Responsibilities

You will be responsible for conceptualizing an idea, product development, manufacturing support, and completing the product release with packaging design and marketing materials.Your talents as a product designer will elevate the evolving product line, taking into consideration sustainability, smart manufacturing, and the multi-stepped user experience.Your trained eye will complement and help elevate XICO’s product offering with color and material choices while refining its function for installation and the overall user experience.You will be responsible for every stage of a product design as well as its development and transfer to production.Member of product design team, reporting to Director of Product Design.Completing product and work order-related design requirements prior to manufacturing.Create sub-assemblies and top-level BOMs in Solidworks for release to production.Develop detailed technical drawings and documentation for LED lighting specifications.Create schematic/orthographic drawings to depict fixtures and assemblies for customer sign-off.Support manufacturing, product engineering, and assembly teams through the NPI process.Regular and thorough communication, detailing task process.Creation of BIM and REVIT files based on Solidworks assembly builds.Maintain and contribute positively to a collaborative work environment within a diverse, cross-functional team.Skills/Specifications

A broad technical skill set with strong expertise in industrial design, and mechanical and electrical engineering and a practical hands-on skillset and good communication and teamwork is an excellent indicator of success.Considerable skill in the design and preparation of CAD models, drawings, and technical specifications for manufacturing.Strong working knowledge of Solidworks is required (Solidworks Professional certification is a plus).Ability to prepare complex CAD models and drawings from rough sketches, data, and oral instructions.Expertise in time management and the ability to meet strict deadlines.Numeracy and technical competencies (prepare technical data, understand specifications, and read drawings/blueprints).Proficient level computer skills including Excel for design table implementation.Knowledge of architectural project processes and the use of BIM files is a plus.Knowledge of working with variety of 3D printing and prototyping techniques.Background knowledge of manufacturing processes for plastics and metals including: Extrusion, bending, injection molding, casting, and CNC.Education and Experience

Bachelor-level industrial design, mechanical or electrical engineering, or similar degree (preferred).Good working knowledge of Solidworks. Solidworks Professional certification is a strong plus.Associate degrees or professional certifications are acceptable.Preferably 3+ years of product design and technical relevant experience.Experience in LED lighting or a similar industry is a bonus.Fusion Optix is an equal opportunity employer.
