If you have what it takes to become part of the Vistra family and would like to start a promising career with a global leader, take a look at the exciting employment opportunities that are currently available and apply online.Job SummaryThe Nuclear Core Design Manager/Engineer reports to Energy Harbor's (a Vistra Company) corporate office in Akron, OH or the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station in Oak Harbor, OH and performs all manner of core design and reactor physics support calculations and analyses.This role frequently works independently to identify and perform tasks as required to meet company objectives and supports the gathering and analysis of information necessary for initiatives or to solve complex problems.The position will develop and maintain effective working relationships with others including external to the company.Job DescriptionKey Accountabilities:Managing the Davis-Besse core design projectAct as the primary contact between the plant and fuel vendor for fuel and safety analysis issues.Performing core physics calculations using the Studsvik CMS software.Providing core physics data support to Reactor Engineering, Operations, Training, and other applicable groups at site as well as the Fuel Procurement and Spent Fuel Management groupsInitiating vendor analyses and performing verification of the results of vendor-supplied reload analysesProviding support for vendor design verifications and quality auditsInvolved in spent fuel criticality analyses, strategic fuel cycle planning, decay heat calculations, and reactor pressure vessel fluence calculations.Identifies and performs tasks as required to meet objectivesLead interpretation and analysis of complex issuesCoordinates assigned projects, studies and initiatives through completionComply with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environmentPrepare and present reports including recommendations to resolve complex issuesParticipate in and on occasion lead special project and committees including external organizationsLead complex problem-solving effortsEducation, Experience, and Skill Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required (preferably Nuclear Engineering).Proven performance in the areas of reactor core design and core physics calculations is desirable.Demonstrated written and oral communication abilities.A strong analytical ability is required.Ability to perform computer programming is desirable.Studsvik Scandpower CMS software experience considered a plus.Demonstrated experience performing project management considered a plusPrevious relevant job experience strongly preferredKey Metrics:Teamwork and collaboration skills across organizational boundariesAble to communicate complex issues effectively through written and verbal communicationAble to influence by establishing effective working relationships across organizational boundariesIn-depth understanding of power plant equipment and system interrelationships.Able to evaluate technical alternatives in light of their economic contribution to the businessAble to apply systematic problem-solving processes to address complex issuesJob Family : Engineering ServicesCompany : Energy Harbor Nuclear OpLocations : Downtown Operations Center, Ohio
