The

Senior Designer

collaborates with the Drafting Manager to ensure accurate and timely creation of Simplicity Homes plan releases. They serve as a technical expert, assist in developing department strategy, and provide operational leadership for the Drafting Team. Additionally, they handle custom design work for Hayden Homes and Simplicity Homes as assigned by the Drafting Manager, offering occasional operational assistance when needed.Responsibilities Include:

Leadership and Development: leads, coaches, and develops the design team, serving as a subject matter expert, conducting regular check-ins and quarterly reviews, and ensuring timely production of Releases, Site Plans, and Lot Fits.Releases: logs and prioritizes new home releases, creates plan submittals for permits, generates construction documents, reviews and implements plan changes, utilizes AutoCAD for customized drawings, creates individual site plans, and reviews team members' plan releases for quality and accuracy.Design: researches and communicates jurisdictional design requirements, develops relationships with building departments, drafts custom residential designs, coordinates plans with engineers, manages field challenges, provides regular project updates to stakeholders, stays updated on codes, and handles revisions and lot fits for specific projects.How You Will Succeed:

Education

High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience requiredDrafting Degree, Drafting Certificate, or similar degree required.

Skills

Proficient in AutoCAD and 3D Modeling programs.Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Abilities

Ability to read and interpret construction documents and demonstrate a working knowledge of the construction process, terms, jurisdictional requirements, and building components of residential buildings.Can create original plan designs.Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to attend to details, manage projects, track milestones, and effectively communicate with project stakeholders.Ability to receive, execute, and communicate ideas effectively along with strong interpersonal, verbal, listening, and written skills.Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Experience

5+ years of residential design work using CAD preferred.5+ years of hands-on work experience in an architectural/residential design field preferred.1+ years managing people.

Specialized Knowledge

Working knowledge of International Residential Code (IRC) and local residential building codes and prescriptive bracing methods.Working knowledge of jurisdictional Energy Codes and applying new codes as they get updated per jurisdiction.Extensive knowledge of the construction process, terms, and building components of residential buildings.
