The Team:

The Disney Princess design team is a group of passionate and inspired designers with the goal of telling the best stories with the best toys on earth. We are looking for motivated, magical storytellers to build out the kingdom of Disney Princess toys for kids. Our products range from world-building playsets, fashionable and fun characters in doll form, and no story is complete without magical surprise experiences. We work with an equally passionate cross-function team that spans the globe with our international partners, making our design-led toy company of Mattel one of the best in the industry. The Opportunity:

Mattel, Inc. is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Sr. Product Designer to join the Disney Princess product design team. The group is focused on creating new products including fashion dolls and playsets; by understanding the consumer, trends and technology that are then translated into successful product. This involves creating and communicating toy concepts in 2D and/or 3D models to design and marketing management. The ideal candidate will possess proven product design experience showing ability to work on challenging and fun girls’ products as well as ideating new concepts.

What Your Impact Will Be:Actively generate new toy ideas to enhance the brandExecute on both Product Designs and Graphic DesignsDesign and develop for fashion dolls, small dolls, playsets and/or advertised lines or segmentsBuild consensus between members throughout the design processPartner with Development Design, Engineering, Packaging and Cost Engineering to ensure product integrity and marketing objectivesDaily communication with Asia partnersSuccessfully present and communicate concepts to the design and marketing management and creative departmentsManage the early phases of design and development with other disciplines

What We’re Looking For:3-5 years of fashion doll, small doll, playset design experience (licensed brand experience is a plus)Fashion experience helpfulSkilled in sketching and illustrationAbility to prove ideas out through sketch, breadboard or 3D modelMust be proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and 2D computer programsStrong written and verbal communications skillsAdobe Creative Suite proficiencyKnowledge of 3D CAD (Alias, Rhino 3D is a plus)Knowledge of material and manufacturing process for soft goods and plasticsAbility to work autonomously and in a team environmentAbility to project manageIdeal candidate will exhibit interest and knowledge of the current trends. Understanding of features and play patterns in the toy industry is a plus.Portfolio demonstrating strong design excellence and superior problem solvingPersonal Attributes Required: Creative, Self-Motivated, Passionate about 'Play', Efficient, Proactive, Organized, Professional Maturity and the Ability to Assimilate Constructive Criticism

The annual base salary range for this position is between $85,000 and $105,000. This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
