Salary Range:

A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach a standard five-credit course is $9,322 - $19,518 (based on salary points 5-30). Please see the UCSC Salary Scales and refer to the

Non-senate Instructional (NSI) Unit 18 Pre-six Lecturer Academic Year

scale. Instructional Workload Credit (IWC) valuation may vary, and the course salary will be adjusted accordingly. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.

Percent Time:

Variable, based on the course load assigned.

Anticipated Start:

Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2023 through fall quarter 2024.

Position Duration:

Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.

Position DescriptionThe Department of Computational Media at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach courses in Computational Media, Human Computer Interaction, or Games & Playable Media, and Serious Games.

Course topics include, but are not limited to, design, development, production, narrative, graphic, audio elements, and experiential learning of computational media, including human computer interaction and games and playable media.

Outstanding candidates with experience to teach courses in one or more of the above areas are encouraged to apply. The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other assigned duties. Appointments are temporary positions with end dates and generally made one quarter at a time, based on the changing curricular needs of the department.

Internal candidates will be given priority consideration.

QualificationsBasic Qualifications

(required at time of application)

B.S. / B.A. / B.F.A. and three years of industry experience relevant to the advertised course topics; or an M.S. / M.A. / M.F.A. in a field relevant to the advertised course topics; or 10 years of industry and professional experience relevant to the advertised course topics that is judged to be equivalent to a bachelor's degree. Equivalent foreign degrees will be considered.
