Reporting to the Director of the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History, the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications will be an energetic content leader who will facilitate a dynamic public image for the Museum, and will provide oversight for the effective communication of the Museum’s identity, program, and mission. At the Yale Peabody Museum we are working on Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion institutional priorities so that we can learn to better serve our communities, amplify marginalized voices and perspectives, and create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. Please address in your cover letter how Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion relate to your professional experience and goals.Essential Duties:Develops and implements a publicity and communications strategy that promotes the Museum’s programs and activities as an important part of Yale’s cultural offerings.Serves as the primary point of contact with the media and is the Peabody’s liaison with the local arts organizations and community.Works in partnership with curators and administrative staff to conceptualize, develop, and implement an overall communications strategy for promoting exhibitions, programs, public events, and acquisitions to the general public and university community.Develops, plans, writes, edits and distributes press releases, advertisements and other promotional material in alignment with a communication strategy.Manage the Museum’s Digital Media Specialist and Graphic Designer, ensuring consistency of the Museum’s and Yale’s style guidelines.Analyzes online social media activity to determine strategies and opportunities for growing virtual audience engagement.Manages and maintains email subscription lists and utilizes various software applications to prepare and schedule announcements to subscribers.Collaborates with the Yale Office of Public Affairs and Communication to promote and support the Museum’s overall mission.Serve as the primary contact for general public inquiries and requests for private tours and VIP visitors.Develop an internal communication strategy for effective flow of news and information for Peabody staff, Curators, and the Museum’s Leadership Council.Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Radio/TV/Film, English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field and four years of related development, communications and/or external relations experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Required Skills:Superior leadership, oral, and written communication skills.Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with exceptional attention to detail.Proven ability to build and maintain influence and trust with a wide array of constituencies.Ability to decipher environmental and scientific information in a manner appropriate for intended audiences.Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Experience within a museum, preferably a natural history museum. Development or advancement background, with experience interacting with organizational stakeholders at all levels.
