Salary:

£70,000 – £75,000 Plus Car/Allowance and Excellent PackageOur Client is a leading design and build contractor operating in the water sector. They have over 1,000 staff working across regional centres, primarily supporting multiple long-term water sector frameworks through a number of joint ventures and alliances.They are looking to recruit a Senior Design Manager to support their Anglian Water framework, based from Peterborough but with hybrid/agile working available. The Senior Design Manager for Engineering is responsible for the quality and consistency of the engineering design across the region, this will include:Lead and develop your Engineering team, through the management of Principal Engineers, Technical Coordinators and Document Controllers;Lead the evolution of the @one alliance engineering design processes;Support developing new ways of working, to reduce carbon, protect the environment, and embrace innovations and new digital technologies;Work with the Head of Engineering and the other Senior Design Managers to develop engineering design strategies for AMP 8 and beyond;Develop and embrace the benefits of hybrid-working.Leadership – empower the Principal Engineers and Lead Engineers and hold them accountable for achieving engineering quality and consistency.Consistency – ensure consistent quality of engineering design outputs, delivered on a right first-time philosophy to the correct standards and specifications.Specialist engineering – facilitate the provision of specialist engineering capabilities, such as DSEAR and Hazard Studies.Compliance – ensure that the engineering procedures are fit for purpose and compliant with all relevant standards, specifications and regulations.Continuous improvement – work with the Principal & Lead Engineers and the Design & Technical Managers to create and improve the engineering procedures.Governance – actively promote and monitor compliance with the engineering procedures, standards and specifications; implement improvement plans to address non-compliance, or poor performance.Digital – champion the alliance goal of fully attributed digital models for every project to deliver efficiencies.Leadership – act as the central point of contact for stakeholders external to the engineering team.Change management – track and coordinate the implementation of changes with the wider business, including assessing and managing impacts to the Engineering Team.External engagement – develop relationships with the wider water and construction sector, to help enhance performance.Skills:Ability to work and provide leadership in a dynamic environment, with changing requirements and competing tensions.Organised – is able to plan and coordinate own and team’s workload and priorities.Provide direction and clarity through decisive actions.Methodical and logical approach to defining processes and procedures.Develop a collaborative team culture and behaviours, as well as working effectively within a multidiscipline and diverse team.Continuously identify how to improve ways of working and mitigate issues.Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence.Train, coach and mentor others, including helping them to find their own solutions to problems.Balance cost, time and quality requirements.Qualifications & Experience:Educated to degree level in relevant engineering subject.Member of a professional engineering body.Managing a multi-disciplinary engineering design team.Job Information
