The Audience Research Manager is responsible for collecting, compiling, and reporting on attendance and sales data and oversees ongoing surveys to learn about the Museum’s audiences. Their work is instrumental in informing audience and membership strategies. The position is in the Membership and Guest Services Department and works in close collaboration with individuals in the departments of IT, Development, Marketing, and Learning and Interpretation. This position also supplies sales and attendance data to the Chief Financial Officer to assist with admission projections and audience insights. The successful candidate is able to extract data from the Museum’s CRM (Tessitura); respond to specific queries about sales, attendance, and constituents; and highlight key observations.Responsibilities:Manages a portal that collects attendance data from multiple departments and reports on the categories weekly. Tallies the counts for end-of-year reporting.Compiles attendance and sales data from the Museum’s CRM (Tessitura), the attendance portal, and electronic people counters over gallery thresholds into one report that is shared across the Museum. The report also includes prior year’s data as a comparison.Extracts data on a daily basis to create weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and attendance tracking in the form of reports and dashboards which inform attendance and revenue projections.Partners with key individuals in Guest Services and IT to understand ticket sales set-up, ticket scanning, and the collection of visitor information to identify reporting methods and processes that will ensure audience counting accuracy.Creates clear presentations that highlight the audience data and develops new ways of presenting data to management.Oversees the implementation of ongoing audience surveys utilizing iPads in the lobbies. Recruits and manages a small team of survey volunteers who conduct on-site exit interviews. Manages the data collection, report creation, and presentation of findings.Reviews data with a detailed eye to identify suspect data and inaccuracies.Acts as the primary point person for supplying exhibition attendance figures, audience attendance figures, and other data regarding visitor participation.Manages software/platforms that are key to the position, including Qualtrics and Maptitude.Maintains the official exhibition attendance counts and oversees historical data.Supports special requests for funder reports and museum sector surveys.Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Intensely curious with an interest in detailed information.Knowledge of SQL and advanced skills in data querying.Strong Excel skills.Experience with SPSS a plus.Highly organized with proven success in meeting deadlines.Excellent written and spoken communication skills.Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in related field, computer science, statistics, research or similar will be highly

preferred

OR an equivalent combination of experience and education from which comparable and demonstrable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.Experience with CRM databases; Tessitura a huge plus.2-4 years of relevant experience working within a museum or cultural institution.Position Available:Title: Audience Research ManagerReports to: Chief Administrator, Memberships and Guest ServicesClassification: Exempt/SalariedSchedule: 35-hour work week – 9 am to 5 pmWork Location: Museum of Fine Arts, HoustonWorking Conditions and Physical Demands:Work will primarily be performed in an office environment.
