Reporting to the Executive Director of Enrollment Management, the Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with the Christian mission, vision, and values of The King’s University. This includes overseeing all aspects of the university’s marketing and communications, including external and internal advertising, public relations, website content, printed pieces, video, social media, and outside marketing. The Director of Marketing and Communications serves as a leader within the college community, protecting, supporting, and advancing the TKU brand through effective communication and marketing strategies.RESPONSIBILITIESThe essential functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the characteristic duties and responsibilities noted herein; however, this list represents examples only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions found in this job description.Position Specific ResponsibilitiesMarketingDevelop and implement a strategic marketing plan that incorporates paid, earned, and owned media in accordance with TKU’s Mission and strategic plan.Develop and execute comprehensive student recruitment marketing plans, including key messages, creative strategies, and tactics across digital, print, and other channels.Ensure brand and messaging quality and consistency; establish guidelines to apply across all departments.Conceptualize and oversee the production of marketing materials, including publications, ads, direct mail, electronic media, and internet.Establish, nurture, and maintain positive external relationships with individuals, businesses, and community-based organizations that support the University’s outreach efforts.Identify video and photography needs of the University and oversee production as required.Develop and administer the marketing budget.Provide and interpret data for key performance indicators.Develop outcomes for the marketing department, monitor assessment of those outcomes, and develop plans of action for improvement based on the assessment of those outcomes.Develop, implement, monitor, and revise marketing communications policies and procedures.CommunicationsOversee internal and external communication, including news media relations, print/electronic publications, website, and social media initiatives.Arrange for interviews with personnel for print and broadcast media and for special events, when necessary.Act as spokesperson and liaison with the media.Oversee the development of internal and external communication procedures and training including a media crisis plan.Model core organizational beliefs and values; communicate openly and effectively within and across departments. Establish and maintain professional communication and ensure that all interactions are supportive, courteous, and respectful.Utilize effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly both internally and publicly.Participate in professional development activities that are aligned with University, departmental, and individual goals.Maintain accurate and complete records as required by governing entities (DOE, TRACS, ABHE, etc.); file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.Attend and participate in staff meetings and serve on committees as required.Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.Perform other related duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesProvide supervision of the Office of Marketing and Communications.QUALIFICATIONSEducation:Experience:A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field is required.Demonstrated experience in developing strategic marketing plans and implementing programs/initiatives.Working knowledge of technology trends in the marketing/public relations arena.Extensive experience in marketing, public relations, special events, graphic design, photography, and printing, with demonstrated people skills and expertise in planning, writing, editing, designing, production methods, media relations, crisis media management, and organizational development preferred.Experience with B2C marketing strategy, strategic advertising, and branding.Experience with marketing automation platforms.Software experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, WordPress, or similar tools preferred.Demonstrated ability to strategically think and develop and execute ideas.Familiarity with practices involved in the preparation and dissemination of mediated messages.Understanding of public relations practices, procedures, techniques, and terminology.Knowledge of the academic structure of the University.Highly self-motivated and detail-focused.Strong relational and communication skills.Strong customer service aptitude and ability to motivate staff.Strong leadership and organizational skills.Clear and concise communication skills, both orally and in writing.The ability to interpret data and analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals.The ability to develop, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.Knowledge of higher education marketing.Skills in Google Analytics, social media analytics, etc.Video production or graphic design skills.Other RequirementsValid Driver’s LicenseAbility to type and effectively use technology.Daily listening, speaking, and written communication with people.Occasional irregular hours.Maintain emotional control under stress.The King’s University (TKU) is an accredited, Spirit-empowered, evangelical university located in Southlake, Texas.
