Part-Time; 24 hours per week, may include evenings and weekends

Schedule:

Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Corps Officers

Salary and Grade:

$ 13.00 per hour; 73 Non-Exempt

Position Overview:

Responsible for the music program of the Salvation Army Lebanon Corps. Expand and administer programs of interest to youth. Conduct outreach to youth. Support existing youth programs. Work alongside Officer to create and maintain successful programs.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the youth from the community and our Corps the Music and Youth Programs of the Salvation Army Lebanon Corps

Process all music classes applications.

Maintain accurate monthly statistics.

Understand program needs and implement policies and procedures in collaboration with staff and leadership to ensure programs and services are adequately staffed.

Work with the Officers and staff in the recruitment of youth for various programs and ensure a well-organized program.

Establish an effective working rapport with all other staff.

Oversee and support all current Youth Programs including Summer Day Camp.

Expand, Prepare & Implement new and interesting Youth Programs with an emphasis on outreach.

Connect with area churches, colleges and other groups to recruit volunteers/interns.

Supervise the youth in programs under their care.

Coordinate facility utilization and scheduling.

Visitation and/or follow-up with program participants and parents.

Recruit program participants for new programs.

Communicate with local schools and agencies to enhance programs.

Represent The Salvation Army on committees, boards and task forces as assigned.

Work alongside Officer to create and maintain successful programs.

Accept training and education in all facets of local Corps work to be better prepared for future ministry leadership goals, including officer-ship as appropriate.

Maintain a consumer-friendly demeanor when working with internal and external publics.

Ability to communicate and interact well with officers and employees.

Ability to work alone and with others. Must be a self-starter. Must have the ability to keep information confidential and to use sound judgment working in an environment with multiple, changing work priorities, and under strict deadlines.

Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar, as well as good verbal communication skills.

QualificationsRequirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum of two years post-high school education and/or work experience.

Prefer a logical thinker who is detail-oriented.

Must be courteous to program participants and their families, volunteers, staff, and the public.

Previous work/experience with children and teens.

Some experience in youth ministry and creative arts ministry is preferable.

Be a member of The Salvation Army in Lebanon PA, or be willing to transfer SA membership to the Lebanon Corps.

Must have a Christ-like attitude and act as a positive Christian role model for youth.

Ability to work independently.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Power Point, Excel, and Publisher). Layout and Design experience preferred. Willingness to learn and work with other publishing software such as Adobe and other software.

Creativity, flexibility, and capacity to meet the responsibilities inherent to job success are required.

Ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds.

Needs to be a team player and committed to the ideals of The Salvation Army.

Able to plan and evaluate effectively.

Able to manage confidential information.

Must possess a current, valid Driver’s License to travel locally as needed.

As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter. Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following: clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
