The Designer is responsible for developing and implementing design solutions that impact and shape the Museum visitor’s experience. Working collaboratively with colleagues in all areas of the museum, the designer must exercise independent judgment to develop creative and innovative ways to design and produce graphic material for exhibitions, advertisements, building signage, and event marketing.The designer is also responsible for creating and producing graphic material for social media, video, and the museum website. The Designer manages the Tang Museum’s digital media archive, consisting of thousands of images, design files, and videos. The Designer also assists as a liaison to catalogue production and supervises several student design interns. There is an opportunity for the Designer to participate in public programs and events including student workshops and visiting artist residencies.EducationBachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in graphic design, contemporary art or digital production. MFA or equivalent desired. 3-5 years design and production experience in museum environment with strong contemporary art background necessary.Expert skills using techniques, materials, equipment and software used in graphic design, multimedia development and video authoring such as: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Acrobat, etc.), Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite, and new applications as they are developed. The candidate should also have a working knowledge of HTML and CSS, and be familiar with web design.Preferred QualificationsMust possess the ability to create and oversee print productions from conception through printing. Additionally, the candidate must be able to author multimedia projects for gallery installations and traveling exhibitions. Must also possess the ability to manage digital assets. Strong organizational and communication skills are necessary.Must have aptitude for quick, creative problem solving and visual thinking with acute attention to detail within demanding deadlines.Required documents needed to apply:On-line applicationResumeList of Three ReferencesPay Range$55,000 to $65,000, commensurate with experience.
