Anchored by offices in Boston, Chicago, Columbus, New York, and Washington D.C., we operate across 15 states.About the PositionThe Grant Writer will assist in obtaining philanthropic funding and investments to sustain and grow Community Life and resident-centered projects. An essential component of this role will be writing, reviewing, and researching public (federal, state, city) grant proposals for TCB’s national portfolio. The Grant Writer will also assist day-to-day department operations.ResponsibilitiesAssist the Institutional Giving Coordinators and Senior Director of Fund Development in daily tasks related to donor research, strategy, identification, cultivation and stewardship at national and regional levels to sustain and grow Community Life resident success programs and other resident-centered projects and investments.Write, research and edit high-quality narrative for grant applications from public sources.Support the Fund Development resource library and other processes, systems, tools and materials for grant proposal development and department reporting.Efficiently use development tools, systems and outside resources to provide and gather information as needed from regional teams and corporate departments for grant proposals.Timely and accurate donor database entry and reporting.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesExcellent writing and presentation skills.A disciplined record of writing on a deadline with clarity and accuracy.An ability to listen and be open to new information and ideas.Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize, multitask, and be self-directed.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to create and maintain positive internal and external working relationships.High energy and passion for The Community Builders mission.Education & ExperienceAt least three to five years of relevant experience.A bachelor’s degree is required.Experience with Blackbaud Etapestry software is a plus.Ability to engage with residents, colleagues, and external stakeholders at local, regional, state, and national levels to obtain information and support fund development strategies and activities.The Community Builders, Inc. is committed to ensuring diversity in its workplace, and candidates from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
