Advisory Services (ADS) Senior AdvisorJob SummaryPOWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking Senior Advisors to join our Advisory Services Division for work regarding Grid Modernization in the utility industry. The role will be tied to our Boise, Idaho office; but candidates may work from any mutually agreeable location.

Roles and Responsibilities

Collaborate with a team of subject matter experts to perform complex research, support project initiatives, develop technical reports/recommendations, and contribute to strategic decision-making processes for utility clients.

Research and discussions with internal POWER staff, clients, partners, and solution providers to build personal awareness of major market trends in the utility industry in general and Grid Modernization specifically. Share this knowledge with others on the team.

Work with established and new clients of all sizes to identify and win work.

Develop and maintain advisory opportunities and lead or support Advisory Services proposal development, as needed.

Assemble Advisory Services project teams (including internal SMEs across POWER divisions), assign individual responsibilities, develop scope/schedule/budget, and execute projects efficiently and profitably. Responsible for financial, technical, and commercial success of projects.

Create and deliver high-quality technical reports, presentations, and other Advisory Services deliverables. Must have very strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to adapt to a wide variety of audiences.

Responsible for mentoring less experienced advisors according to the annual ADS Business plan and personal goals that are established annually.

Support Advisory Services marketing goals through developing and delivering content for publications, industry reports, podcasts, and speaking engagements.

Support the development of the annual Advisory Services business plan.

Learn new skills readily, as needed.

Perform all duties with little to no supervision.

Required Education/Experience

12+ years of applicable energy industry experience.

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, or a related field is required; an MBA is highly desirable.

Professional Engineer (PE) License.

Strong verbal and written communication skills using the English language.

Ability to travel 25% or more.

Desired Education/ExperienceDemonstrated experience in the following areas:

Technical

Experience with completing complex technical analysis and using this to prepare easy-to-understand reports, compelling presentations, executive summaries, and other types of Advisory Services deliverables.

Experience with researching and compiling large amounts of data quickly and independently.

Experience with serving as a technical specialist with knowledge and deep skillset to provide consultation and guidance to project teams in multiple areas related to Grid Modernization.

Experience with assisting in the preparation of business cases and cost-benefit analyses.

Experience with collaborating with peers and efficiently mentoring less experienced consultants.

Business

Experience with developing an overall project execution plan and sequencing of activities to facilitate an efficient and organized execution of Advisory Services work.

Experience with organizing and overseeing the implementation of POWER’s quality process on project work to produce deliverables which meet or exceed our client’s quality expectations.

Experience with achieving financial success on Advisory Services projects.

Experience with supporting the development of needs assessments, business cases, strategic roadmaps, and other Advisory Services deliverables for clients in the energy industry.

Experience with leading or assisting on small to medium-sized advisory engagements with complex technical challenges.

Experience with leading or assisting with proposal development and other business functions as needed.

Experience with leading contract negotiations and the contract review process.

Leadership

Experience with recruitment, hiring, and retention of staff members.

Experience with leading and managing direct reports.

Leading by example and demonstrating/promoting POWER’s culture codes.

Ability to actively support the Advisory Services mission and vision statements.

Client Engagement

Experience with forming trusted advisor relationships with clients.

Experience with understanding client interests and drivers through normal client contact and through interaction and communication with project leadership.

Experience with identifying potential clients of interest and developing plans to win work in coordination with other peers and leadership.

Experience with supporting Senior Advisors in developing opportunities and coordinating with other divisions as needed to support new opportunities.

Experience with coordinating with other divisions’ leadership teams to secure resources to support new opportunities as needed.
