News Anchor

The University of Alabama is looking for an experienced News Anchor to join the WVUA 23 news team. In addition to writing, anchoring, and producing content for broadcast and digital platforms, the anchor is a leader who guides newsroom editorial decisions and mentors student journalists and professional staff. The position will anchor two or more newscasts each day and provide consistent guidance, coaching, and accountability for the WVUA 23 news team.The News Anchor demonstrates a strong commitment to journalistic standards inside and outside of the newsroom and, with the WVUA 23 News Director, provides editorial oversight working closely with producers and reporters to develop content that provides high-quality news and information to our local communities. The successful candidate will be able to handle breaking news, recognize relevant content, and showcase stories in a professional manner. Strong writing/producing, digital, and communication skills are a must. A Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communication or Journalism is preferred.Application Deadline: 08/30/24.
