A Brief Summary Of This PositionThis individual contributor position in the Engineered Support Structures (ESS) division involves reading and interpreting customer order information to process orders for production and customer submittal drawings. The role handles low to moderate complexity tasks, prepares necessary drawings and data, and interacts with other departments to resolve customer order and manufacturing issues under the supervision of the Drafting Manager/Supervisor. Limited customer contact may be required.The position involves ensuring quality and lead time objectives are met, and requires inter-departmental communication to maintain effective relationships. The incumbent must report any inconsistencies or missing information to a supervisor and have all work checked by a Drafting Supervisor or Senior Design Drafter. Knowledge of company policies, procedures, and product lines is essential, with minimal deviations allowed. The role also includes establishing work routines and recommending improvements to product designs and drafting procedures.
Essential FunctionsReports to Drafting Manager with no direct or indirect reportsTravel up to 5% (domestically) for this roleInvestigates and analyzes design problems, determining necessary changes and correctionsMakes sketches for other designers/draftersInterprets specifications and standards, provides information to ensure customer requirements are metRequisitions parts and products for company usePrepares lists and quantities for purchasingDiscusses assignment details with engineers, supervisors, customers, and suppliers, preparing sketches and drawings for manufacturing plansCommunicates with customers to resolve specification questionsAssists team members with shop drawings on a project basis
Important Details About The RoleReviews customer contract drawings, specifications, and instructionsManages department backlog, updates computerized backlog, and meets schedule commitmentsMaintains productivity and order accuracy as per departmental prioritiesKeeps a cooperative and professional attitude with all departmentsMaintains an accurate filing system of customer requirementsStays aware of current drafting policies, procedures, and manufacturing capabilitiesRecommends and helps implement changes to drafting procedures and standard designsHandles special assignments as requestedProvides assistance to departments in interpreting customer specifications and manufacturing capabilitiesSupports any department with technical or drafting needs to enhance product or company interests
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):High School diploma and 1+ years of work/educational experienceTechnical skills in computer-aided drafting and basic mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry) from an Associate of Applied Science degree or related experienceExperience with 3-D modeling techniquesProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and product requirementsAbility to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentAbility to travel up to 5% (domestically)
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These QualificationsAssociate degree in DraftingStrong working knowledge of 3D Computer-Aided Design SoftwareAutoCAD 2013, Reproduction Equipment, Scientific Calculator, and Drafting Equipment knowledge/experience
