KANAWHA COUNTYSalary: $45,314 - $56,293 Annually

General Job Summary:Working with the Senior Director of Communications, this position develops and publicizes persuasive and engaging content, helping to reinforce a strong brand voice and nurture relationships with stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for writing, editing, designing, and assisting in the production of informational and promotional materials.Works with internal and external teams to design for approval a cross-collaborative social media marketing strategy.Develops and implements a content calendar across social media platforms ensuring a constant supply of relevant content.Working from design guidelines, creates and maintains digital content including social media accounts and websites.Responsible for creating, managing and posting content on HEPC and CTCS social channels, and needed updates to websites, including HEPC and CTCS sites.Manages, analyzes and reports regularly on analytics, search engine optimization (SEO), other applicable tools to measure the reach and effectiveness on various digital platforms.Writes press releases, talking points and presentations as assigned. Proofs/edits reports and other publications from divisions across both agencies as needed.Serves as backup media contact, fielding media inquiries, and tracking media requests.Responsible for maintaining updated media email distribution list.Tracks and compiles media clips related to higher education and related issues across the state and nationally.Disseminates clips to internal and board contacts.Helps to facilitate internal communications within HEPC and CTCS, and with the state’s colleges and universities.Aids in the development of an internal staff and board newsletter, and regular updates for campus communications contacts.Maintains agency brand standards and identity systems for agency initiatives.Works with the agency’s external marketing firm as needed on new and ongoing campaigns.Provides general and communications support, including photography, for events and special projects.Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Affairs, Journalism, Public Relations, Multimedia or a related field and two years of social media management, event support or related experience required. Experience with photography and design tools such as Illustrator and Photoshop strongly preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Technology (Office 365, web and social media), graphic design (Adobe creative suite) skills.Advanced proficiency using common social media platforms.Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure and work well in a team environment.Knowledge of public higher education practices and policies a plus.If you have any questions, contact the WVHEPC Division of Human Resources at (304) 558-2104, Option 1.
