The Instructional Designer will play a critical role in assisting faculty with designing, developing, and implementing high-quality educational experiences that support student learning and engagement. This position collaborates closely with faculty, administrators, and other stakeholders to enhance course delivery through innovative instructional strategies and effective use of technology.

Education & Experience Requirements

Education:

Master’s degree in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or related field

Experience:

Proven experience of three (3) years in instructional design

Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS)

Strong knowledge of instructional theories and best practices in pedagogy

Excellent skills in multimedia design and development tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia)

Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational settings

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with quality assurance and accessibility standards in education

Familiarity with data analysis and evaluation methodologies

Experience providing faculty development and training

Essential Functions & Position Duties

Course Design and Development: Collaborating with faculty to design and develop online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses. This includes creating course objectives, lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials.

Technology Integration: Identifying and integrating appropriate technologies and multimedia resources into the curriculum to enhance teaching and learning.

Content Creation: Developing instructional content such as videos, interactive modules, simulations, and other multimedia resources.

Assessment Design: Creating assessments that accurately measure student learning and provide meaningful feedback. This includes developing quizzes, exams, rubrics, and other evaluation tools.

Faculty Support and Training: Providing training and support to faculty on the use of instructional technologies and best practices in pedagogy and course design.

Research and Evaluation: Researching instructional strategies and technologies to stay current with trends and best practices and evaluating the effectiveness of instructional interventions and making data-driven recommendations for improvement.

Quality Assurance: Ensuring that courses and materials meet quality standards and are accessible to all students, including those with disabilities.

Collaboration: Working with various stakeholders, including faculty, administrators, and IT staff, to ensure that instructional design initiatives align with institutional goals and objectives.

Project Management: Overseeing instructional design projects from conception to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are adhered to.

Continuous Improvement: Continuously seeking opportunities to improve instructional practices and student learning outcomes through feedback and reflection.

These duties require a blend of pedagogical expertise, technological proficiency, and project management skills.

Non-essential functions of the position

Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.
