:The Hoboken Public Library connects people with information, ideas, and opportunities to support lifelong learning, personal growth, and community development. We believe a library’s most important resource in this pursuit is a talented, quality staff, and strive to achieve a more meaningful role in our patron’s daily lives through the development and support of its staff by implementing new and innovative approaches to providing library service.About the Position:Reporting to the IT Manager, this position performs various tech support, paraprofessional, and detailed library duties. There will be a strong emphasis on working in the newly opened MakerSpace. Prospective employees will be willing to demonstrate a desire to work with staff to promote and use various Maker equipment, learn and have a competence on using the various systems and be able to take responsibility for portraying that knowledge to others. This position also assists with collection processing and repairs. Performance will be reviewed periodically to ensure compliance with policy, procedures, and standards.Examples of Work:Support in installing, configuring and testing new computer hardware, software, systems, printers, and scanners and connecting equipment to the appropriate networkMonitoring and updating computer systems and software, including Google Chrome, Windows OS and Adobe CCResponding in a timely manner to service issues and requestsProviding technical support across Library facilities (in person, over the phone or on Slack)Aiding in setting up accounts for new usersProviding A/V Support for programsTaking regular Inventory and Audits of A/V and Tech EquipmentTroubleshooting printer issues and providing support for ink and toner replacementProcess books, media, and other materials for the collectionMaintain and update cataloging records in online catalog softwareInspecting books, media for damage and repairing items as neededPushing book carts with library materialsShifting books as needed to make room for new library materialsWork includes prolonged standing, sitting, bending and lifting/ moving library materialsWorking at all Library Branch locations as neededMaintaining a clean and neat work environmentProviding outstanding customer servicePerforming other related duties as assignedPreferred Qualifications:Excellent customer service skillsExcellent interpersonal communication skillsAbility to learn complex computer systemsAdaptability to a flexible work scheduleKnowledge of G-Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe CC, Slack, Happeo, Canva, WordPress, ZoomPrevious library work experience preferredFluency in a language other than English, especially Spanish is highly desirable.Please send your resume & cover letter to the attention of IT Manager Philip Mendez at
