Portland, Oregon.Position DescriptionThis key role involves overseeing various aspects of editorial planning, content creation, audience engagement, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. We are specifically looking for a creative implementer, someone who is excited by ideas and possibilities and can then effectively organize those ideas into projects that come to fruition.As the Managing Editor, you will be responsible for the comprehensive planning of all editorial content across our publications, submitting plans for review, and maintaining a consistent 12-month editorial snapshot. Daily editorial operations will fall under your purview, including the development of clear and simple processes, leading editorial meetings, and effectively communicating editorial objectives to the wider company.Content creation is a core aspect of this role, requiring the regular contribution of a minimum of three editorial features per month. Proactive planning and adherence to deadlines are essential, as is the planning and approval of assignments for writers and editors. Coordinating with designers and project managers, overseeing proofreading procedures, and managing all aspects of photo shoots are integral components of content creation.Maintaining the Artslandia + En Face Magazine Editorial Style Guide is crucial, as is evaluating finalized copy for compliance with policies, style, and tone. The Managing Editor will play a role in fostering audience engagement, analyzing readership trends, and implementing strategies to enhance the overall reader experience.In addition to the above, the successful candidate will actively innovate in ways to engage readers, resolve editorial issues as they arise, and collaborate with other departments, including marketing, sales, and design. Cross-functional collaboration involves aligning editorial strategies with broader company objectives and participating in meetings to contribute to the overall success of the organization.This role also encompasses crisis management, training and development within the editorial team, and utilizing analytics tools for data analysis related to content performance, reader engagement, and audience demographics.
