Job DescriptionThe primary focus of the position is to assist with all aspects of interior design for the CCL fleet, with regard to area refurbishments, new building projects, and physical/functional improvements. The position requirements include the following duties and responsibilities.Essential Functions:Develop numerous large-scale design projects simultaneously. Propose design solutions according to business sponsor’s desired objectives, goals, and budget.Produce renderings, drawings, floor plans, elevations, details sections, ceiling plans, 3D models, presentation boards, and area specifications for various design initiatives.Propose material options and FF&E solutions to various internal customers; strong product and vendor knowledge required. Approve contractor specified substitute materials and shop drawings to ensure design integrity is maintained.Work alongside other architects/interior designers to foster creativity, assist with project workload, and enhance design quality.Respond to repair and maintenance requests in a timely manner. Create specifications for all furniture, fabrics, wall treatments, lighting, and interior finishes for the different spaces onboard the ships. Make recommendations to improve the maintainability of the interior design elements on the ships. Conduct product research and propose design standards to increase life-cycle cost effectiveness.Create project specifications using CCL defined formatting guidelines, including: defined scope of work, material identification information, and related drawings.Review recently completed projects. Compare finished results to design specifications and renderings. Work with the Director of Quality to create a work list for items needing rework.Prepare and deliver impactful design presentations to the Executive Team, when required. Maintain a composed and professional demeanor to build relationships with internal customers.Assist Project Managers and Director with developing presentations, visuals, and supplemental materials for contractors or business sponsors.Convene, when necessary, with outside consultants, such as: marine architects, interior design firms, and outfitting contractors to outline and communicate the company’s interior design needs and requirements with regard to aesthetics, functionality, and durability.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture.5-7+ years of commercial or marine design experience required.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Experience designing large, public spaces, preferably for marine environments.Exceptional AutoCAD, Photoshop, and 3D rendering skills required. Good 3D hand sketching skills needed.Physical Demands : Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities. May need to stand for long periods of time.Travel : 25-50% shipboard travel likely. Less than 25% non-shipboard travel likely.Work Conditions : Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery. May be requested to work a different shift.The range for this role’s base salary is $51,600 - $75,300. Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.At Carnival, your total rewards package is much more than your base salary.
