Primary Purpose of Position:

The graphic designer will help maintain and reinforce NC State’s brand through the creation of high-quality, visually engaging communication materials that communicate the university’s brand, mission and values to various audiences. The graphic designer will create custom internal and external marketing communications, design digital and print campaigns that bring the brand to life.

The graphic designer should have a strong background in a wide variety of design mediums, including illustration, layout and motion graphics using the Adobe Creative Suite. This range of work should be displayed in a strong portfolio. This candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, which is required to provide exceptional service within the Division of Academic and Student Affairs and beyond.

This designer will work in a team environment and report to the Creative Director. The designer should be able to collaborate and ideate with others and also independently. The designer will execute projects, manage them through the team’s project management system and deliver final products to campus partners.

This designer will be expected to understand brand guidelines and be able to work creatively within the structure provided by NC State’s visual brand.

Work Schedule:

M-F, 8:30 - 5:00Other Work/Responsibilities

Thorough knowledge of and ability to execute innovative visual concepts, techniques and practices pertinent to graphic design and production.Complete technical skill set includes high-level design, digital illustration, photo editing and layout software to create visual communication assets.Expertly create visual elements such as original images and illustrations to help deliver a message; design layouts, including selection of colors, images and typefaces based on the NC State brand.Present design concepts to the team and campus partners; and incorporate recommended edits and feedback into final designs.Manage and approve projects in our branded template system. Create new templates as needed for division and departmental use.Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency and visual/graphic arts experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Department Required Skills

Fluency in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant design software on the Mac platform.Familiarity with printing processes and ability to proof files for proper pre-press.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and partners.Detail-oriented with a strong sense of typography, color, and layout.Preferred Experience
