Position Description

The Creative Arts Director is a pivotal role that will shape the weekend experience through the use of a breadth of mediums such as music, lights, video, and drama. This role will lead the creative arts department, overseeing a team of staff and volunteers who joyfully contribute to services that point to the hope found in Jesus.

About the Organization

CrossWinds is a powerhouse of a church located 30 miles east of San Francisco Bay, ministering for 35 years in the community of Livermore. Known for its use of the creative arts from the very start, CrossWinds continues to communicate the gospel message of Jesus each week with a high value for creativity. The church practices the “Third Way,” graciously holding space to agree to disagree, welcoming all to participate fully within their gifts. CrossWinds is committed to using their property in kingdom-minded ways, featuring 28 tiny homes on its campus as permanent, sustainable housing for formerly unhoused individuals.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the creative arts department for the church, including weekend programming.

Serve as the gatekeeper for Sunday services, managing people, elements, transitions, and service flow.

Be a storyteller, highlighting real-life stories from the community and stewarding the creation of original stories communicated through video and other creative mediums.

Lead weekly brainstorming, decision, production, and evaluation meetings while supervising a team of leaders.

Consistently and clearly communicate vision and strategy week to week as creative ideas are dreamed, decided upon, and implemented.

What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

A devoted follower of Jesus energized by sharing the gospel in creative ways.

Demonstrated experience in project management with the ability to clearly communicate vision and inspire effective execution.

A hunger and drive for creative work, energized by dreaming creatively with a team and effectively storytelling.

A passion for recruiting, developing, and training team members, with experience in a supervisory role.

A “big picture” understanding of all the production elements that go into putting on a service, with the ability to make decisions and lead from this knowledge.

Preferred but not required: experience in video production or direction.

Please note: This is not a worship leading position. This person will join a team with a fantastic Worship Pastor.
