The Paralegal Clerk will be a dedicated resource for the Communications Practice and will provide support, as needed, involving preparation of and research relating to applications, pleadings, and other filings with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and state public utility commissions.JOB DESCRIPTION

Prepare applications for new licenses, registrations and construction permits, modification of licenses and construction permits, cancellation of licenses and permits, license renewal applications, applications for assignments of license and transfers of control in a wide variety of service categories;

Maintain and actively manage internal due diligence systems and processes;

Conduct due diligence research involving FCC licenses/matters for transactions;

Research and analyze court, FCC and state public utility commission decisions and procedural requirements;

Organize, review, and summarize documents, files, and factual research;

Meet the minimum requirement of 1,650 annual billable hours;

Maintain confidentiality of client information;

All members of the firm are expected to participate in our Global Citizenship program;

Other projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED SKILLS

Strong research, writing and editing skills;

Proficiency in Word and Excel; Experience with PowerPoint desirable;

Familiarity with Westlaw preferred;

Experience with FCC licensing and comment databases and filing systems preferred;

Ability to research communications law issues and filings preferred;

Ability to research SEC filings desirable;

Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and communication skills;

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with or without direct supervision;

Ability to coordinate multiple projects at one time.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

0 to 2 years of work experience, experience supporting attorneys in a law practice or equivalent preferred.

Experience with or ability to master FCC filings and research required, including strong familiarity with ULS, ECFS, IBFS, CDBS, CORES and Fee Filer.

Relevant expertise in all aspects of regulatory case management.

Law firm experience preferred.

Paralegal certificate desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes required to lift equipment and/or move boxes up to 20 pounds.

HOURS

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including one hour for lunch, with overtime as required.The annualized salary range for this position is $48,000 to $54,000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
