Job Description:Dauphin Way United Methodist Church, Mobile, AL, a church of over 2000 members with a highly visible and active music program, seeks a full-time Director of Music and Worship. A Bachelor's degree in Church Music, Sacred Music, Organ, Choral Conducting, or equivalent experience is required. A Master's Degree is preferred. We seek a talented individual with a call to serve the church with excellence and with an understanding that this position will have a great impact upon the worship life of the church. The Director of Music and Worship directs and/or oversees a large Music Ministry that includes choirs for children, youth, adults, and handbells.
The successful candidate will:Have a high level of artistry and proficiency in sacred choral music in the protestant reform styleBe comfortable with a wide mix of musical styles including, but not limited to, traditional Methodist hymnody, Taize, Classical church choir repertoire, current repertoire, African-American Spiritual, Southern Gospel, Black Gospel, and World MusicWork collegially and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. Be self-motivated and creative, understanding the importance of music in the overall ministry of the church.Supervise a full-time Associate Director of Music and Worship, all accompanists, directors, and scholarship singers, and coordinate with individual guest instrumentalists and contracted orchestraReflect the core values of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church and be committed to the mission of the United Methodist Church: to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the worldInterested, qualified candidates are asked to submit an application including a cover letter, resume, three reference contacts, and a link for two to three video examples of the candidate’s work with adult church choirs to the contact below.
