The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, handles multiple projects at once, is organized, has demonstrated social media skills, and loves a challenge. You will get to work on world-class events, learn how a modern newsroom works, and use your skills to grow subscriber audience and promote our brands. This work includes but is not limited to campaign, promotional development and execution for all brands and associated products.Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for creating and executing an effective paid social media strategy for The Detroit News to attract new subscribers and engage current readers.Develop and manage relationships with outside media outlets such as TV and radio to get our talent, products, and events featured and grow audience on these platforms. This also includes writing press releases and working with outside media promotion for our events.Write and execute trade/sponsorship agreements including meeting with sponsors as needed.Act as a liaison with event sponsors to ensure fulfillment of all sponsorship benefits in accordance with their agreements.Develop relationships and partner with the internal editorial team to help grow subscribers and promote engagement.Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to develop marketing strategies across social, digital, and traditional platforms for subscriber growth based on knowledge accumulated from internal editorial team relationships.Coordinate event-specific duties within defined timelines and established expense budgets.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree with at least 1-2 years’ experience in marketing, public relations, or a related field.Preferred experience and/or knowledge of media solutions, marketing campaign development, event marketing, consumer events, and public relations.Key leadership competencies include the ability to demonstrate professional interpersonal skills with internal and external customers, maintain confidentiality of company information, prepare reports accurately and within deadlines, coordinate several tasks simultaneously within a fast-paced environment, and possess excellent organizational skills.Outstanding benefit options including comprehensive health, dental, vision, HAS, FSA, life insurance, pet insurance, 401K, and more.Generous time off package including company-paid holidays.Energized and passionate team with a fun and flexible workplace.Gannett Co., Inc. is a proud equal opportunity employer committed to building and maintaining a diverse workforce.
