The CBS News White House unit is seeking a producer with strong editorial, reportorial and logistical skills to cover the White House! The producer will be expected to cultivate sources, cover events across the administration, work with correspondents at the White House and in the field, travel on short notice and report and write for CBSNews.com. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of TV journalism experience, and the ability to thrive in a deadline-driven news environment. The producer will have outstanding writing, editing and research skills and the ability to work with camera crews. The selected candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, willingness to work in a collaborative manner, a strong work ethic and enthusiasm for news and storytelling. Experience editing taped packages is a plus. Ability to do on camera work is a plus. The candidate must be available and willing to work weekends.Responsibilities:

Cultivate sources and cover events across the administrationCoordinate crews, log events and work in a team-oriented environmentEdit taped packages, conduct research and book interviewsProvide creative input, pitch, and develop and complete original segmentsArrange interviews and location shots and produce content under strict deadlinesQuickly gather and disseminate critical information for air, verifying its accuracyContribute to CBS RadioPursue newsmakers and conduct interviewsWrite articles for CBSNews.comCommunicate information to the bureau and assignment deskCoordinate transmission windows for live shots and feedsShoot and edit breaking news, day of air, featuresAppropriately represent CBS News in public settings including social mediaQualifications/Requirements:

Minimum five years working at a news organization with proven experience in the field, managing story developmentStrict adherence to the highest journalistic standardsSolid reporting and writing skillsMust have solid news judgment and experience chasing breaking newsMust be able to balance and prioritize multiple stories and tasks with different deadlines: short, medium, and long-term responsibilitiesAbility to work long hours as news dictates which could include working on regular days off, weekends and overnight, with short noticeAbility to travel with short notice both domestically and internationallyAbility to take on assignments that vary from extreme weather to environments including areas of social unrest, protests etc.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to listen and receive feedbackMust be a great teammate with a positive outlookThrives in a fast paced and deadline driven environmentProficiency at shooting with a prosumer-style camera, capturing clean audio using hardwired and wireless microphones, and setting up basic lightingProficiency at editing using Adobe Premiere, Avid or Final Cut ProBroadcast and Digital experience preferredValid driver's license with unrestricted ability to drive requiredMust have a U.S. passport with unrestricted ability to travel domestically and internationallyCollege Degree in broadcast journalism, history, or political science or related field preferred, but not requiredADDITIONAL INFORMATIONHiring Salary Range: $90,000.00 - 140,000.00.The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
