The successful candidate should consistently produce a show that stands out as best in their market. You should know how to “produce up” a story, live and breathe digital and thrive at integrating it into your shows.We’re seeking someone with 4+ years of news producing experience. A Bachelor’s degree is required.Essential Functions:
Be creative and create compelling and memorable newscastsWrite creative headlines and teasesMaintain working knowledge of current events, community issues, and local contactsSearch wire services, network feeds, websites, and social media to find relevant material for newscastsCollaborate with news operations staff to build graphicsWork with directors and anchors on presentation of storiesAdditional Responsibilities:
Clear, concise, conversational writing skillsExcellent communication skillsDemonstrate solid news judgmentMaintain strong journalistic ethicsStrong initiative and attention to detailResearch and brainstorm story ideas, present ideas in editorial meetingsGenerate promotable story ideas dailyPost and update stories to station website and social media sites, engage viewersCommunicate with the web staff during breaking newsPerform other job-related duties as assignedWrite news storiesAssist producers in formatting other newscastsEssential Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of newsroom softwareKnowledge of web posting softwareStrong research skills, including online research using various search enginesAbility to stay current with national and local news/weatherKnowledge of engaging on social mediaAbility to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressureAbility to work independently with little supervisionDemonstrate leadership through training and mentoring less experienced staff members; guide others to get the desired outcomeAbility to remain positive and foster a positive work environment; work well with co-workersEdit video and audio on industry standard equipmentBuild graphics and use effectively in showsHandle and adjust to last-minute changesMake quick, accurate decisions during the on-air processSalary Range: $25.00 - $29.00/hr -- Based on Experience**** EOE/MINORITIES/FEMALES/VETERANS/DISABLED****KDVR/KWGN is an equal opportunity employer that seeks diversity in our workforce.
