Weston & Sampson is seeking a Sr. Project Manager with 7-10 years of experience with utility design to work in our Apex, NC office. Our Transportation group is rapidly expanding our engineering practice to help deliver on a variety of exciting projects both existing and newly awarded.What you’ll do:Responsible for the following:

Preparing studies, design plans, specifications and other contract documents for public bidding and to meet client deliverablesLeading a variety of transportation related projects from a technical and financial perspective and overseeing the work of support staff

Assist in the development of utility design plans for a variety of transportation and municipal projectsPrepare:

Special Provisions / Specifications according to NCDOT / municipal guidelinesEstimates for projects at various stagesSubmit Permit Packages to various state agenciesLegible, concise, scaled notes and drawings.

Perform on-site field work, including:

Walking the project site / corridor to verify the existing conditions of utilitiesObservation of contractors and sub-consultants during constructionVerify the as-built conditions of facilities.

Represent and promote Weston & Sampson at project meetings, conferences, and professional society eventsPeer review services of designs prepared by others.Mentor junior staff in the development of utility design plans, specifications and special provisionsSupport our other disciplines as well as our external client base

Some travel will be required within NC to client meetings and project sites, and potentially to other W&S office locations and industry conferences / seminars outside of NC

What you will bring:BS in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is required; MS in Civil Engineering is desired.Professional Engineer License in NC, or the ability to obtain within 1 yearExperience with the following:

Hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software for analyzing water distribution systemsSite Design to develop Site and Grading Plans for proposed Station Sites.NCDOT Engineering Design Standards preferredUtility Conflict Analysis between proposed roadway/hydraulic designs and existing utilities.

Background with the design of Sanitary Pump Stations, force mains, and gravity sewers.Capable of reading DOT plans in order to differentiate between existing and proposed conditionsBentley MicroStation experience or ability to learn; MS Office Suite including Publisher, AutoCAD is a plusAbility to work and interact with Client and Utility Owner Points of Contact.Strong written and verbal communication skills and organization and time management skills
