Adjunct Film and Media Studies

The Film and Media Department at Seattle University is inviting applications for part-time adjunct faculty to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in film and media studies. The successful applicant(s) will be responsible for teaching one or more film and media classes, or general education classes in film and media studies topics, and will also be expected to hold office hours in person or on Zoom (generally one hour per class). Applications due by Aug 2.

Particular needs include:

Faculty able to teach a variety of production classes in film and media studies or general education (UCOR) classes, especially introductory filmmaking classes, developmental classes in our Filmmaking I, II & III sequence, to more specialized topics, such as film producing, sound, editing, or cinematography.

Film and media studies classes or general education classes in film and media studies topics or visual culture. Particular needs include film history, film theory, topics in race, ethnicity, and representation (especially African-American and Latinx film), Los Angeles and film, international film topics, media topics.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Film and Media or Cinema Studies, or equivalent, or in the case of applying for a production position, substantial professional experience (which includes substantial tertiary teaching experience at the university level).

Compensation at a Glance:

Salary Range: $5100 for a 5 credit class with Terminal degree, MFA or PhD (preferred) or $4600 (without Terminal Degree).

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
