ABOUT NBAF:The National Black Arts Festival (NBAF), based in Atlanta, GA, is recognized as the oldest multidisciplinary non-profit arts organization in the United States focused exclusively on the art and artists of African descent.NBAF is committed to continuing its legacy of providing stellar artistic and educational programs through our mission to expose, educate, engage and entertain audiences by presenting and supporting the art and artists of African descent.Through our annual public programs, world-class performances, commissioned works, arts education and public programs, NBAF offers local, national and international audiences experiences that are extraordinary and enriching.JOB SUMMARY:The primary function of the Marketing and Public Relations Manager position is the creation and execution of a comprehensive marketing and public relations plan.We are seeking a highly qualified, motivated and professional individual for our expanding organization with experience in both public relations and marketing management who can develop and maintain important relationships with media professionals, find press opportunities, market our initiatives to diverse audiences in innovative and effective ways across multiple platforms, and leverage our brand story across the ever-expanding digital landscape.This position is responsible for managing all aspects of marketing and PR on a day‐to‐day basis. Our preferred candidate is equipped with great communication skills, exemplary storytelling abilities, a keen sense of social media strategy and best practices, and an eye for appealing aesthetics to ensure a professional, brand consistency.The Marketing & PR Manager will report directly to the Artistic Director to create engaging marketing plans for all of NBAF’s programs, initiatives, and events. The ideal candidate will showcase their creativity and knowledge through advertising, promotions, public relations, social media, media buying, and more. The Marketing & PR Manager will need to track spending and determine how to divide budgeted funds across platforms and initiatives. Because arts & entertainment is such a relational industry, the Marketing & PR Manager also will need to grow and develop strong connections with our market’s community partners.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and execute marketing communications plan & budget.Manage all marketing materials, website updates, and social media presence on behalf of the Company.Coordinate and propose public relations objectives.Oversee social media and digital content creation, calendar, and execution.Manage media inquiries and schedule interviews.Process, monitor, and communicate PR/Marketing reports on a quarterly basis.Build impactful public relations strategies that shape the public perception of our organization.Maintain strong connections with media representatives.Proactively generate ways to advance the Company’s brand in the local and national Black arts community, digital media, speaking opportunities, conference participation and other forms of advertising.Actively market and promote Company news and program activities including formal press release distribution, article development/pitch, social media, etc.Manage the design and creation of marketing graphics and videos as needed.Write and disseminate press releases to the media.Responsible for the creation and distribution of the bi-weekly NBAF e-newsletter.Continually evaluate the public relations/marketing strategy.Ensure organizational marketing materials are current, accurate and properly reflect the brand and desired messaging.Perform other duties as assigned which are in the best interests of the Company.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Exceptional marketing strategy skills.In-depth understanding of social media.First-class written and spoken communication.Budget management skills.Strong understanding of all social media channels.Superb communication and relationship-building skills.Knowledge of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, Google Drive, Microsoft Teams, and other programs as needed.Graphic and video design and editing skills are a plus.Strong organizational skills and ability to create and maintain processes, procedures, timelines, and schedules for successful project execution.Great leadership abilities.Ability to recognize and define problems, collect information, establish facts and implement innovative solutions.Ability to workday, evening, and weekend hours based on the needs of daily business operations.Ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Thorough knowledge of current industry trends.Established media relationships.Great time management skills.Maintain a positive public/professional profile at all times.Work well in a team environment.Must be able to work onsite. This is not a remote or hybrid position.Graphic & video design a plus but not required.REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field—Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or similar.5+ years of experience in Marketing or Public Relations managerial roles.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:$500 IT StipendHealth Insurance Reimbursement Plan
