Purpose of Position

This position will assist in the development, coordination, maintenance, enhancement, design, and content of the UND Athletics website, including all sports camps, while also serving as the direct communications contact for the women’s basketball and women’s soccer programs. This position will use discretion and independent judgement, and will use creative license to formulate, affect, and implement operating practices related to assigned sports. Invention, imagination, originality, and talent must be exercised by the employee on a daily basis.

The Director of Communication & Web Services is a full-time position within the athletic communications department and reports directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Content. Must have commitment to compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations. Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes.Duties & Responsibilities

Direct All Web Services for UND Athletics Website

Responsible for creative design and development of the athletics website.Develop, coordinate, and perform maintenance, enhancement, design, and content of the UND Athletics website.Provide advice, insight, and recommendations on future concepts, development, and director of web-based services.Coordinate with others as required to ensure website is consistent with other print and electronic communications.Communicate with website host for updates and changes in a timely fashion.Official point of contact for UND Athletics regarding website matters.

Serve as Communications Contact for Women's Basketball

Arrange media requests for coaches and student-athletes.Respond to media requests and inquiries in a timely fashion.Direct press conferences including placement of media backdrops.Assist in executing external operations unit promotion of the program (including but not limited to social media, website information such as bios pictures, schedules, production of game notes, game day programs, press releases, game story, post-game content, pre/postseason media guides).Update archives for the program.Assist in content strategy with external operations unit for the program.Manage press area before, during, and after the program’s home competitions including leading student-interns and stat crew.Submit award nominations in a timely fashion.

Serve as Communications Contact for Women's Soccer

Serve as Communications Contact for UND Athletics Departmental Duties

Responsible for all communications functions for departmental needs (i.e. Hawkademy, SAAC, SAID).Lead and direct projects for the general athletic department not related to a specific sport.Assist in the promotion of non-sport related programs through, but not limited to, social content and press releases.Maintain archives for UND Athletics and all teams.

Required Competencies

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including speaking, writing, and editing.Excellent organizational and computer skills.Must have effective professional working relationship with student-athletes, staff, administration, alumni, and the general public.Must have commitment to NCAA compliance and follow all NCAA, conference, and UND rules and regulations.Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes including having a valid driver’s license.Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree.1 year of experience in the design, creation, and implementation of professional websites.1 year of full-time or undergraduate/graduate or internship experience in athletics communications or professional sports.Strong social media presence and demonstrated use of various social channels to include Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.Successful completion of criminal history background check.Valid Driver’s License.In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.Preferred Qualifications

2 years of athletics communications experience at the NCAA Division I, II, III, NJCAA, NAIA or professional level.Supervisory experience of graduate assistants, interns, student assistants, and game-day staff.Experience with SIDEARM CMS.Experience with cross-browser and cross-platform issues and design constraints of the Web.Experience with website development process, from idea concept through implementation.Experience using all the following software: Adobe Creative Suite, NCAA Genius Stats, Microsoft Office.
