We are looking for an experienced Product Design / UX Design Lead to join our design team. This role will manage and lead user experience strategy and execution work across multiple Aladdin Wealth Tech’s pillars, with a focus on our discretionary product personas. This individual will help advance our product vision in this area, set and maintain a high-standard for user experience, and drive workflow management, process governance and contribute to team culture. This role will manage a small group of UX and UI designers, work closely with a dedicated team of product managers, engineers, product marketers, QA, and client-facing partners.

About You

You are first and foremost an excellent craftsman, a UX leader and advocate. Experienced at employing design best practices, identifying and filling process gaps that empower cross-functional teams to not only evolve our UX practice, but ultimately ensure we are creating high quality products on behalf of our users. You seek insight into user needs to derive efficient, friendly interaction design. You understand the holistic journey a user takes to provide them with valuable tools for task completion. You are not afraid of challenging evidence, managing complexity, depth, and balancing the demands of a varied user base when crafting software.

You love owning big interaction problems and providing the thought leadership vital to drive them toward success by collaborating hand-in-glove with product owners and engineers. You’re great at creating long-lasting relationships with direct reports and partners, helping manage the performance and careers of your team.

As a VP (Sr. UX Designer / Design Manager) You Will:

Own and influence the design of tool(s) used by internal and external users.Help develop and implement UX strategies that align with business goals, ensuring a seamless user experience.Design detailed wireframes, journeys, info architecture, and prototypesContribute to the design system by ensure design is consistent with our UX guidelines and approved interaction patternsLead the design of user interfaces using exploratory and iterative design techniques, including heuristic evaluations, broad ideation, deep detailing, usability testing, and other forms of requirements discoveryConduct comprehensive user research, including user interviews, and usability testing to gather insights and identify pain points.Collaborate with key project team members, including UI designers, researchers, product managers, and technology leads to deliver end-to-end solutions.Manage a team of 3-5 designers and up-level their performance, craft, learning and career development goalsSupport the Head of Design in maintaining a strong team culture and filling gaps to upscale the larger design teamBe a positive, friendly representative and evangelist for user-centered design.

Requirements

Experience & Education

8+ years application design experience in fast-paced product environmentsBFA/MFA degree in graphic design, HCI or a related fieldAt least 2 years managing and mentoring designers

Work Samples

Portfolio samples that show deep UX thinking and sophisticated problem solvingCandidates who proceed to in-person interviews will be required to perform a small UX design exercise, which they will then present to the team.

Expert-level Skills In

Developing UX artifacts such as wireframes, prototypes, site maps, user journeysFigmaDetailing the work (i.e. functional specs, annotations, user stories, etc.)Communication and storytelling through presentationAbility to collaborate with development teams to ensure design implementation meets high quality standardsPartnering with key stakeholders to identify, develop, and implement innovative processes to ensure that UX design/research efforts are efficient, repeatable at scale and that ultimately ensure production and release of effective and impactful design.

Strong Skills In

Leading a user-centered discovery phase for projects, such as running workshops and facilitating discussions with partnersWorking within lean/agile product development modelsWorking with cross functional teams that are earlier in their UX evolution to establish and implement UX processes that ensure quality of design at scale.Experience facilitating or assisting user research and user testing – and subsequently identifying user needs, actions, behaviors and emotions through researchManaging the performance of designers, creating an inclusive, respectful and motivating environment
