Digital Content Producer - NBC4 Washington

NBC4 is looking for a freelance Digital Content Producer that will be responsible for day-to-day execution of NBC Washington DC’s digital news strategy, working with other local digital staff to ensure the offering is consistently up-to-the-minute, differentiated, impactful and relevant to a new generation of local users. The role combines acute attention to detail, rapid response, editorial judgment and flair, and consistent day-to-day execution and project-management responsibilities within a 24/7 newsgathering operation. This position is onsite and will be required to work Sundays, 7am-3:30pm & Monday-Thursday, 5am-1:30pm. Responsibilities include:Gather, edit, package and publish local news content – focusing on local news and weather – to the station’s digital platformsWrite text articles, create and publish video clips, and edit images according to the local editorial “voice”Create and publish video, photo, and text content for social media platformsOversee livestreaming of linear programming and ad hoc events on station’s digital platforms as well as social media sitesProgram key sections for editorial impact, audience appeal, and timeliness on websites and appsGather and package relevant content around key stories from a range of external sources, feeds and content typesEnforce editorial style guides, standards and practicesParticipate in efforts to hit aggressive daily benchmarks for the volume and frequency of local content publicationWork with corporate editorial staff and editors in other local markets to share stories and resources across all NBC websitesAssist in identifying freelance contributors and managing of content partnershipsBasic QualificationsMinimum 3 years’ experience working in print, online or television news in a medium to large sized marketExperience working with social media, marketing products using social networking sites or creating content that lives on such sitesExperience working with content management systemsBachelor’s degree in Journalism or equivalent work experienceMust have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United StatesMust be at least 18 years of ageMust be available to weekends, evenings and holidays as requiredDesired QualificationsExcellent news instincts combined with the ability to write succinctly and with flairAbility to work on decisively on multiple tasks and stories simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentAbility to react to breaking news, updating the news as stories evolve and writing intros and leads to video online contentAbility to work in a team and across all departments ensuring digital formats that are accurate without typos or errorsProficiency in video editing and production using Adobe Premiere to package and export engaging video content in multiple formatsDemonstrated knowledge of AP Style writing and guidelinesProficient in Social Media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, and moreProficient with Adobe Photoshop and related Creative Suite programsExperience with WordPress, Dalet, Later, SocialFlow, and SailThruExperience using data visualization formats such as storytelling tools a plusDetail orientedSpanish language skills
