The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) works to increase the integration of inclusive, evidence-based, and innovative teaching and learning practices in Stanford courses and curricula. CTL has a leading voice on campus for issues related to teaching and learning and contributes to educational strategy, practice, inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, and belonging through a wide variety of partnerships and initiatives.

Job Summary:

The Academic Technology Solutions Laboratory (ATSL) team within the CTL is a resource center for Stanford University faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants interested in using academic technology to improve teaching, learning, and research. We are looking for a Digital Media Specialist (DMS) to join our team. This new role would be responsible for producing engaging digital content that informs, educates, and inspires our community, drives increased department visibility, achieves key departmental goals, and establishes a consistent brand across multiple platforms.

In this role, you will:

Produce digital media content for large-scale CTL events like conferences, symposia, and department presentations, as well as ongoing workshops, guest speaker events, and monthly meetups.

Collaborate with CTL staff to develop and edit features, promotional spots, and video content showcasing the CTL's programs, courses, and training.

Create compelling content that sparks interest and encourages participation in CTL events and initiatives; capture interviews and event footage for news stories and website videos.

Curate an archival library of media objects (video, audio, photographs, graphics, etc.) by organizing and preserving, managing permissions and versions, ensuring accessibility through captions and descriptions, and securing talent releases.

Set up, operate, and troubleshoot media equipment used in creating content, including video and still cameras, laptops, audio devices, and video conferencing equipment.

Research, prepare, and produce digital media for interactive modules, trainings, and courses on topics related to ATSL and broader CTL priorities.

Represent the ATSL on the CTL Communications Advisory Group.

Research and evaluate new and emerging digital technologies, including AI media generation, x-reality, spatial computing, and so on.

Assist ATSL staff with general programs and services as needed.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

Demonstrated technical experience using digital media equipment, video creation, editing software, and/or digital media control software, including AI-assisted media creation.

Knowledge of production techniques including videography, photography, compression and file delivery.

Experience with live streaming events.

Knowledge of camera, lighting, sound and editing.

Understanding of online video environment and online distribution.

Ability to adapt equipment setup and provide alternative setup or workarounds if necessary.

Good interpersonal skills, judgment, and diplomacy are required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience.

Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Effective time management skills.

Physical Requirements: Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks, frequently stand/walk, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, and reach/work above shoulders, occasionally sit, twist/bend/stoop/squat, visual acuity including color vision, ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class license.

In addition, preferred qualifications include:

Experience with PTZ cameras and control units.

Up-to-date knowledge of social media trends, platforms, and best practices for engagement and community building.

The expected pay range for this position is $66,560 - $86,000 per annum.
