Position SummaryUnivision Local Media KXLN 45 is seeking a Full Time News Photographer to shoot news and other events for TV productions, both live and recorded. Edit material to script using non-linear, computer-based editing software from our facility and operate ENG equipment from remote locations.Job ResponsibilitiesShoot and edit assigned and/or breaking news stories using ENG camera and non-linear editing equipmentShoot and edit special assignments as neededProvide pictures and short/snap videos from the field for our Social Media platformsSet up and operate microwave ENG trucks, as well as Live U equipmentOperate and maintain news vehicles and equipment in a safe and professional mannerPerform routine maintenance and light troubleshooting on assigned equipmentMay be required to travel for special assignments and coverageOther tasks as assigned by supervisorCandidate will have continuous interaction with news reporters and other photographers. Will work closely with producers, assignment desk editors, video editors and Director of OperationsWill have constant interaction with engineering and production departments, and will be in daily contact with the public, as well as local, state and federal officialsSelf-motivated, well organized and with excellent personal interaction skillsRequired Skills & ExperienceHigh School Diploma required; College degree or technical school training in Journalism, Radio/Television, Production/ENG or related fieldMinimum 2 or more years working as news photographer in a TV newsBilingual fluency in English and SpanishStrong storytelling and problem-solving skillsMust be able to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlinesMust be able to multi-task and communicate effectivelyAble to work flexible hours, including holidays, weekends and evenings, as well as during inclement weather such as HurricanesMust have a Texas driver license and a clean driving recordMust have demo reel and provide a link to reelEligibility RequirementsMust be willing to work from the office in Houston, TXEmployment/Education will be verifiedApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United Stated on a full-time basisPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, type and sit for up to (8) hoursMust be able to lift and carry broadcast video equipment (approximately 50 pounds)Must possess vision and hearing acuity, clear and audible speechMust be able to work in outdoor and inclement weather conditionsUnivision is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
