- The Email Marketing & Website Associate’s primary responsibilities are developing the marketing email communications for the Virginia Museum of History & Culture (VMHC) and managing the VirginiaHistory.org website. For email communications, this includes email creation and delivery, segmentation management, A/B testing, campaign funnel development, and analytics reporting. For the website, this entails site edits and updates as needed and regular site audits to continually improve user experience.Responsibilities

-Email Marketing (Primary responsibilities):Builds and sends email communications to museum’s subscriber lists, defining user types and creating components/templates by audience (members, nonmembers, new subscribers, families, etc.)Manages segmentation and list builds for targeted audiences through museum’s CRM systemProduces campaign analytics reporting for full audience and targeted segments, translating findings into recommendations for improved campaign design and reachCreates new campaign funnels and reengagement strategies by user typeDevelops, implements, and evaluates results of A/B testsConducts regular email communications audit and makes recommendations to enhance engagementWebsite Management (Secondary responsibilities):Makes content edits both proactively and upon departmental requestManages website including conducting regular content audits and optimization focused on improving usability, accessibility, and visual appeal to increase conversionQualifications

-Experience with online email platforms (ex. MailChimp, Constant Contact, WordFly)Experience with web CMS (ex. WordPress, Drupal)Experience with digital analytics & reporting (including Google Analytics)Familiarity with CRM databases • Familiarity with HTML5 and CSSKnowledge of current trends in accessibility, SEO, and CX standardsSelf-motivated and comfortable taking initiative to analyze existing processes and make recommendations for improvements, while also able to collaborate with a team on organizational priorities and campaignsEducation & Experience Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in marketing, email communications, website management, or related field or equivalent professional experienceExperience in email marketing, including targeting and segmentationNote & Special Requirements:Interest in history and/or knowledge of Virginia history & culture preferredWork schedule: In-person, 16-20 hours per week, Monday through FridayRetirement and sick leave benefits availableThe Virginia Museum of History & Culture is owned and operated by the Virginia Historical Society — a private, non profit organization established in 1831.
