Our agency client based in Richmond, VA is looking for a versatile Art Director to join their team! Our client is a strategic, marketing communications agency that specializes in the financial services, internet service provider (ISP) / telecom and B2B software sectors. While the sector may vary, our client has a “people-first” approach that allows them to adapt their process to most any industry through a firm understanding of buyer journey. It’s a small but mighty team that handles a range of marketing components including mail, email, collateral, PPT presentations, web content, landing pages, display ads, social, event signage, and so on!The ideal candidate for this role will be a self-starter, able to work with a lot or a little information and collaborate with the Account and Creative Teams to develop engaging and actionable marketing communications campaigns. They will work closely with the ACD (copywriter) to develop concepts that translate into captivating and relevant visual communications targeting specific audiences. The ability to understand marketing and communication objectives are essential.More characteristics of a successful candidate:Experience in providing creative rationale for visual communications to internal and client teamsAbility to quickly change focus when a deadline or priority shiftsStrong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to be adaptive and calm in a fast-paced environmentKeeps up to date with latest design and marketing trends and conduct research to inform creative when appropriateIs experienced in team environments and has the professional maturity to be open to other’s perspectivesUnderstands a variety of disciplines / channels including direct mail, email, digital, social, print, outdoorAbility to interpret and translate client’s branding into engaging and fresh visual communicationsMaintain a keen eye for detail, a positive outlook and attitude in a high expectations and deadline-driven environmentResponsibilities:Attend and participate in client and agency status meetingsAttend and participate in client project kick off meetings and ask questions as they ariseCollaborate with Copywriter on campaign / communication conceptingCollaborate with Account Managers on concepts, specs and deliverablesDesign campaign components which can include direct mail, email, social media posts, mobile and online banking banners, in-branch videos storyboarding, OOH (billboards, in-branch posters, etc.), brochures, bucslips, etc.Collaborate with Production Manager on direct mail and print specs when necessary; set up production specs and confirm specs are within budget and timingDevelop creative presentation books and participate in the presentation of our thinking to the clientMake time-sensitive revisions to campaign componentsCreate production-ready files to send to print vendorsCreate programming-ready files to send to the programmerOrganize files in respective client foldersKeep track of time spent on each projectReview print proofs from vendors for color layout, and content accuracyReview email and video tests from programmer to ensure color, layout, and content accuracyThe ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:Strong concepting, ideation and presentation skillsAbility to work in a team environment and collaborateThe ability to communicate ideas and rationales to internal and external clientsInterpret client creative briefs and translate ideas into executionUnderstands the importance of translating a concept or a specific idea into other forms of communications making them campaign-ableThe ability to work on multiple clients and client campaigns simultaneouslyJob qualifications and skill setsProficient in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and AcrobatKnowledge with Microsoft Products including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPointSkilled with stock image research using Getty ImagesThe target hiring compensation range for this role is the equivalent of $28 to $38 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
