Purpose of the Role:

This position is a critical part of Arrow McLaren’s content team, being able to work closely with and pivot between many departments in order to create engaging content for different internal, external, digital and social media platforms.

This position reports within the Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team Social Media & Content team into the Sr. Manager, Social Media & Content, while having a dotted line and resources available through the McLaren Racing Digital based in the UK.

From disruptive storytelling on our channels to ensuring the editing tracker is most up to date for posting on social media, you’ll also play a key role in setting the standard for all videographers and content creators the IndyCar team works with currently and in the future to separate our abilities to others in the INDYCAR paddock.

This position will also have the opportunity to work closely with McLaren’s F1 and Electric Racing teams, ensuring your learning and development extends beyond IndyCar in the US and North American market.

This role entails traveling to most INDYCAR SERIES races and select other events on and off the track, and when possible, supporting McLaren Racing’s broader fan engagement efforts across North America. Race travel is heaviest from March through September.

Principal Accountabilities:

Plan, produce and edit video content in a range of formats to be used across Arrow McLaren and McLaren Racing’s owned social media channels and for internal and external partners.

Manage your own schedule in order to stay organized in workflow at least three-weeks in advance, keeping editing tracker up to date, and awareness of upcoming projects.

Create video content in accordance with the overarching brand, digital and social media strategies, as well as role objectives, while ensuring it is optimized for specific digital and social platforms.

Create photo content, when required, in accordance to same overarching brand, digital and social media strategies, inclusive of ability to take headshots and understanding of lighting.

Work in concert with the in-house social media and content team to create top-to-bottom, series-leading and sport-leading content that supports the objectives of Brand, Commercial and Digital.

Support and assist Senior Manager, Social Media & Content representing Arrow McLaren in external meetings when discussing with outside agencies and freelancers about video and photography requirements.

Own shot list for your work each week, in particular event weekends and off-track moments, detailing overall objectives, goals and tactics to be successful.

Support the Senior Manager, Social Media & Content on marketing initiatives, production day requirements and other projects that require videography and photography needs.

Support the Specialist and Executive, Social Media & Content on continuous improvement of day-to-day execution of the social media channels.

Contribute content ideation and creation for the Social Media & Content team, while being an additional resource for the McLaren Racing Digital team.

Responsible for managing all photo and video equipment in storage, cleaning and refurbishing, while tracking all usage of equipment throughout the year.

Maintain succinct video and photography through team asset library for past and future content.

Work cross-functionally with McLaren’s Digital department and IndyCar’s Competition, Communications, Partnerships and Marketing Operations.

Special projects or other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

1-3 years of experience in content planning, videography, photography, editing and equipment management.

Demonstrates passion for creating engaging content and an understanding of the role that social media plays in sports fan engagement.

Clearly recognizes the importance of the overall content and social media strategy and can translate and transform it into many pieces of creative assets.

Extremely detail oriented and able to work under tight deadlines and in pressure moments.

Ability to identify, establish and execute on social media trends.

Passion for and strong understanding of McLaren Racing, INDYCAR, motorsport and sports, in general.

Proficient capability in programs such as or similar to FinalCut Pro, Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, and others.

Engage multiple internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority.

Maintain professionalism with and in front of high-level celebrities and athletes.

Must be able to relocate to Indianapolis, Indiana. This is an onsite position, not a hybrid role.

Requires travel to all or most NTT IndyCar Series races, in addition to other off-track events.
