Deadline: 09/22/2024Artist or Consultant Sought for Sculpture "Trail" Project in Martinsville
The City of Martinsville, Indiana
is looking to place sculpture created by the late C.R. Schiefer , who lived just outside the city limits of Martinsville for many years, in selected locations around the city.The goal of this project is to bring the work of this world-renowned artist to the community for public display. It is hoped that this will be the largest and most concentrated public collection of C.R. Schiefer’s work in any city. These installations will add beauty and culture to our city as residents and visitors follow a “trail” to see the sculpture. This display will also serve as a catalyst for the recognition and study of C.R. Schiefer by other artists from around the world.The artist or consultant’s scope will be to partner with the city and the Schiefer family to (1) select 4-6 pieces of his work appropriate for display on public property; (2) determine the best location for each of the art placements; (3) design the setting for the art (placement, landscaping, lighting, etc.); and (4) consult with the city on the language to create a brochure and signage for the sites.Application Workshop
