LAW LIBRARYBrief Description

Supervises the operations of the Law Library, and contributes to the overall operation of financial, budget, contractual matters, and collection development; develops policies and procedures and assists with long range planning; directs and oversees technology and system operations and provides reference services.Detailed Description

Supervises system wide operations; supports service areas of the library; develops policies and procedures; assists with long range planning. Prepares budget recommendations and monitors expenditures for law library and county departments. Supervises staff; trains, assigns duties, conducts evaluations, and provides coaching and counseling to staff. Prepares a variety of reports and maintains contractual records and documentation, control of contract correspondence, contractual changes, and other related reports. Supervises the maintenance of the collection, to include collection additions, loose-leaf filing, withdrawing superseded materials, binding journals, repairing, or replacing damaged items and re-shelving and shifting items. Assists in answering reference questions. Oversees cash and credit card deposits and reconciliation of transactions. Performs other duties as assigned.Job Requirements

Education and experience equivalent to a Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (A.L.A.) accredited school. Two (2) years of work-related experience, including one (1) year of supervisory experience. Requires mastery of legal research. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Knowledge of on-line database searching, legal subscriptions and bibliography. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to lift boxes and books up to 25 lbs., unassisted. Ability to reach above shoulders to access high shelves and bend to reach low shelves. Ability to read fine print.Additional Details
