ECODIT is a women-owned small business and an international development firm working with governments, businesses, and local communities to advance environmentally- and socially- responsible development around the world. Position Summary:

ECODIT is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Communications and Learning to design and lead the execution and continuous refinement of a corporate communications strategy and learning initiatives. The Director will oversee all internal and external communications and organizational learning and knowledge management, ensuring consistency, clarity, and effectiveness. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership skills and a proven track record in managing comprehensive communications efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Communications

Design and implement a comprehensive corporate communications strategy that aligns with the company’s goals and objectives;

Develop high-quality, engaging, and accurate content for various platforms, including the company’s website, social media channels, newsletters, and capability statements;

Administer the company’s website and social media channels, and leverage these platforms to enhance ECODIT’s online presence and brand;

Provide technical support to ECODIT projects in the field and Washington, DC, including creating communications plans and strategies, providing training, supporting recruitment of staff and consultants, assisting with deliverables, etc.;

Travel to the field as needed to support ECODIT’s projects in communications;

Champion new business opportunities in the communications sector and lead or support bids in this field;

Supervise one or more Communications and Knowledge Management (CKM) Specialists, and provide them with guidance, support, and professional development opportunities;

Oversee the procurement of graphic design, editorial, photography, videography, and other communications services, as needed;

Develop and maintain communications and brand guidelines and ensure adherence across all channels;

Support ECODIT’s sponsorship of and participation in regular industry events by designing and procuring marketing materials, and staffing in-person and/or virtual exhibit tables/booths;

Provide graphic design and formatting support and create infographics for a wide variety of documents and deliverables;

Maintain the ECODIT photo gallery;

Learning

Establish and operationalize processes and systems to best capture data and anecdotes of the impact of ECODIT’s work on an ongoing basis;

Organize external in-person, virtual, and/or hybrid events that promote ECODI’s work and thought leadership;

Support the development of technical toolkits and resources to support ECODIT’s projects;

Develop and implement ECODIT’s internal learning strategy, to include webinars for staff on topics of interest;

Compile and organize lessons learned and best practices for internal use; and

Leverage technology and other innovations to enhance knowledge management.

Required Qualifications:

Advanced degree in journalism, communications, international relations, or other relevant field.

A minimum of 10 years of experience in communications, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Experience in the communications, knowledge management, and/or learning field, preferably in an international development context.

Excellent technical editing, copyediting, and formatting skills.

Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Experience with social media platforms and content creation for platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and LinkedIn.

Experience in planning events and facilitating trainings.

Experience using website content management systems.

Knowledge of USAID branding and marking requirements

Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Canva and/or other design software.

Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Current U.S. work authorization.

Additional, Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in such technical sectors as environment, energy, climate, water, resilience, and governance.

Experience living and working overseas.

Fluency in a relevant foreign language (i.e., Arabic, French, Spanish)
