Position Summary:

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra is looking for a creative thinker to serve as its next Manager of Growth Marketing. This position is a critical role within the Growth Marketing Team in the DSO’s Marketing and Audience Development department. This Manager of Growth Marketing is responsible for driving new audience growth for programs of all DSO series, assisting in the design of single ticket promotional campaigns to drive revenue and grow audiences across a range of programming which includes:PVS Classical seriesPNC Pops seriesParadise Jazz seriesYoung People’s Family Concerts & Tiny TotsWilliam Davidson Neighborhood Concert SeriesSpecial presentations and co-presentationsCube Theatre and Sosnick CourtyardDetroit Neighborhood Initiative eventsDTE Community ConcertsThe position is also the Growth Marketing team’s email lead and manages the marketing email schedule. Successful candidates should be dynamic self-starters driven by strategic thinking, imagination, and the ability to make decisive, results and action-oriented, data-based decisions.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:Oversee the DSO’s digital marketing ecosystem and devise strategies to enhance and streamline connections between email systems, CRMs, and the DSO website.Using segmentation and campaign personalization, improve email strategy while increasing patron relationship and direct revenue.Design and implement email marketing campaigns that follow industry best practices.Analyze campaign performance and test new strategies.Develop patron contact permissions and preference system in collaboration with Advancement and Communications departments.Serve as project manager for announcement and on-sale processes for select events during the season.Lead the coordination and implementation of promotional efforts throughout the season to facilitate new audience growth.Collaborate with Director of Growth Marketing and Brand Graphic designer to develop key art that adheres to the strategic positioning for select performances.Build customized lists tailored to both email and digital marketing campaigns.Required Qualifications:2-4 years' experience in digital marketing/advertising, communications, business administration, or a related industry.Experience managing email campaigns and overseeing email campaign strategy; experience with email marketing software and WYSIWYG editing software(s).Experience working with CRM and database software such as Salesforce, Zoho, Hubspot, Tessitura.Understanding of SEO/SEM best practices.Functional knowledge of copywriting, graphic design, and HTML.Demonstrated high degree of adaptability, including experience adapting strategy and approach based on data.Ability to act independently, take initiative, and meet changing priorities; results and deadline-driven with the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.Successful experience working in, and contributing to, a collaborative team environment.Desired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a business-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience using Tessitura.Knowledge of social media best practices.Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.Interest in performing arts and/or classical music.Demonstrated experience and investment in issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.Additional Information:This is a salaried, non-union position.Successful candidates must be available to work a varying schedule, including occasional nights and weekends, to meet the needs of the DSO’s performance schedule.All positions at the DSO require the successful completion of a background check prior to beginning employment.
