Indigenous Kenyans were barred by law from growing tea until the dawn of independence when the legislation was repealed for the indigenous people to commence on tea growing. In 1960, the colonial government created the Special Crops Development Authority (SCDA) to promote growing of tea by Africa

ns under the auspices of the ministry of Agriculture. After Independence , Kenya Tea Development Authority was formed through legal notice No.42 of 1964 and took over the liabilities and functions of the SCDA to promote and foster the growing of tea in small farms, which were previously said to be unviable in view of the expertise and costs required, as witnessed in the plantation sector. Since then the growing of tea by the small-scale sub-sector in Kenya has carved a niche for itself in the global tea trade. Kenya Tea Development Agency Limited was incorporated on 15th June 2000 as a private company under (CAP 486) of the laws of Kenya, becoming one of the largest private tea management agencies. The Agency currently manages 67 factories in the small-scale tea sub-sector in KenyaMain Duties and ResponsibilitiesMeeting with customers to discuss their evolving needs and assess the quality of our company’s relationship with themAssisting in the development and implementation of new sales initiatives, strategies and programs.Organizing marketing campaigns to promoting product awarenessAssisting in establishing and adjusting selling prices by monitoring costs, competition, and supply and demand.Preparing periodic sales activities and strategy reports for senior management.Evaluating information based on marketing surveys on current and new product concepts.Collaborating in operational sales as requiredProviding information to relevant parties on development of future business growthResponsible for achieving the Sales and Marketing Plan targets.Assisting in rolling out marketing strategies set by the company.Assisting in the development, implementation and operationalization of key sales and marketing templates, systems and processesAssist in innovation of new products to attract additional clients and increase market shareEnsuring sales performance targets are met to generate income for the companyAssist in preparation of and presentation of proposals to potential clients to provide information on the organization’s products and servicesDefining, implementing and tracking the social media strategy and related KPIsAssisting in defining and implementing sales governance by putting in place weekly and monthly sales status follow ups and reports to ensure proper tracking of sales and marketing activities.Reviewing comments from customers on the products and services and taking corrective action to ensure customer retentionAct as a role model for the company’s ethical standard of conductSupporting customer training and consulting in areas of expertise when called upon to.Supporting in development and execution of monthly and annual budgets,Offering aftersales services to clientsAssist in creating and preparing all advertisements related to CFS businessKnowledge and Skills Required:The job holder must possess;Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing / Business Development) or equivalentMinimum of 5 years of experience of sales & marketing in CFS/Dry Port/Container Terminal.Knowledge of Clearing and Forwarding, Warehousing &TransportShould have thorough knowledge of the relevant industry/sector as well as knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting the relevant sectorMust demonstrate ability to handle multiple and conflicting priorities, and work under strict deadlines.Should have strong analytical skills and be result orientedMust have high standards of integrity and ethical practiceMust be capable of functioning effectively both as a team player and a team leaderClean driving license as an added advantageShould have problem solving and decision-making abilitiesShould be an effective communicator with the ability to handle both internal and external communicationShould demonstrate ability to identify and respond to risk areas within the departmentShould have effective people management and conflict resolution skills
