As a Designer in Training, you will learn to design various dry and wet fire protection systems.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Learn and use design software for 2-D and 3-D drawings.Read and interpret building construction documents such as drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.Prepare fire protection shop drawings, specifications, equipment submittals, and computer hydraulic calculations as needed for compliance with applicable fire protection codes.Prepare equipment stock lists and fabrication lists for fabrication of fire protection piping and hangers, and purchase material as necessary.Survey existing buildings for accurate, economical installation of fire protection systems.Work closely with Design Manager, Sr. Designer, Project Managers, field staff, and other employees throughout the company.Attend related training classes, courses, and seminars as requested by supervisor.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Good planning and problem-solving skills.Moderate to advanced computer skills.Time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Ability to read and analyze building construction documents.Good mathematical skills.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:High school diploma / GED required.Associate’s degree in CAD, Architecture Technology, Construction Management, Project Management Engineering, Fire Science, or a related field preferred.Experience in AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks is preferred.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Valid Driver's License.PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:Construction job sites – moderate to heavy noise, uneven ground, may be subject to heights.Ability to maneuver in restricted, poorly lit spaces.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.May be required to climb ladders up to 12 feet.Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).Hourly Wage:
