Senior CAD Designer

toprovide design support to the sales department working under the supervision of the Engineering Manager. This individual will be responsible for designing fire sprinkler systems on quoted jobs utilizing designated software to produce customer requirements.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Design fire sprinkler systems in compliance with NFPA codes, manufacturer instructions, local city ordinances, and customer requirementsObtain all appropriate approvalsPrepare shop drawings, material listings and hydraulic calculations (when required)Provide pre-installation support to sales and shopConduct coordination meetings with architects, tradespersons, and general contractorsPerform field visits and walk throughs at buildings, job sites, and officesCommunicate with customers, general contractors, fire departments, architects, and consultants regarding the interpretation of codes, cost impacts and schedulingProvide support to sprinkler fitters in the field throughout project installationResponsible for keeping current on all local and national codes governing the design and installation of fire sprinkler systemsAttend department meetings; follow-up on open items; perform additional organizational duties as requiredKnowledge and Skills:Associates Degree or equivalent requiredExperience/familiar with field conditions and surveying existing buildingsTen (10) years’ experience in mechanical design preferredProficiency with AutoCAD, Hydratec Suite, and Microsoft Office SuiteWorking knowledge in Navisworks, Revit, 3D AutoCAD and Bluebeam desiredMust be able to read and understand architectural, structural, technical, and mechanical drawings and schematicsNICET certifications strongly preferred (if not, will sponsor)Must be able to work well with others in a team-oriented environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsSolid organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple project tasks simultaneouslyExcellent attention to detailSolid verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to train Jr. Designers in all aspects of the positionApply for this Job
