You are on your way to recalling your basic math facts with BETTER ACCURACY and GREATER SPEED!!! Below I have listed some ideas for activities you can do to better improve your ability to master basic facts. : This program starts students off with the most basic facts allowing them to build confidence as they move forward towards mastery. Although the suggested time is two minutes per page, please keep in mind, the district's goal is for students to achieve the same amount of problems in one minute. I recommend printing out all pages and using a transparent paper (or plastic sleeve) with a dry erase marker to allow for unlimited uses. - Our district has a subscription to this website. It allows you to practice a variety of concepts, but for our purposes I am going to describe the steps for how to access the "basic math facts" concepts. Please see your math teacher if you do not know your login information. Once you have logged in, type "basic math facts" into the search bar. Be sure to scroll down in order to select the specific skill you would like to practice. I love that this website also has a free app available for download.What they’ll practice: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, divisionWhat they’ll need: Two decks of flash cards, one noisemakerHow to play: Place students in a straight line. Determine where the middle of the line is. This is where the “firecracker” will go off. Place a maraca, clapper, or anything that makes noise there.Now, you and another student start on opposite ends of the line and show flash cards to individuals. As facts are correctly answered, students sit down and play goes on to the next person on the “fuse.”When the last person (closest to the firecracker) answers correctly, he gets to sound the noisemaker, announcing a victory for his team. This game can also be played with several, smaller fuses for an even more exciting bang!
