Letter to The Editor: FREEDOM FOR ALL AMERICANSLetter to The Editor: FREEDOM FOR ALL AMERICANS

FREEDOM FOR ALL AMERICANSAmericans endorse freedom for all. That freedom includes the right for all people toembrace our individual identities which best express who we are. Brandon Williams, representative for NY-22, doesn’t believe in that right. His participation in a hate-filledextremist event at the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC proved it. The purpose ofthe event was to bring together GOP lawmakers and far-right extremist pastors tobrainstorm measures against LGBTQ freedoms, abortion, and those who don’t subscribeto their rigid ideology. This is not unexpected from fear-driven, conservativeRepublicans. Religious zealots sincerely believe their fundamental interpretation of theBible is absolute truth, narrow-mindedly repudiating all others. Their image of Jesus as a“white” man is a physical impossibility for a Middle Easterner. They willfully supportdamnation of people rather than acceptance. This is emphatically in stark contradiction tothe teachings of the Christ.Conservative Americans have the freedom to believe whatever they choose. They don’thave the right to force their personal beliefs on others while using draconian ideas todictate policy and legislation. Their uninvited meddling into people’s private lifedecisions made for the well-being of women, children, and those in the LGBTQcommunity, has to be exposed for what it truly is, partisan politics interfering with humanand civil rights.Politics and religion do not mingle. That is not how a bipartisan democratic governmentfunctions. MAGA Republicans have completely ruptured the Party, making themincapable of doing their job to serve the American people.Republicans continue to create chaos by intentionally obstructing bills designed to benefitall Americans. They refuse to compromise on critical issues facing our nation and theworld. Keep this in mind when voting in November!Guest contributors are community members who have generously shared their time, talent, and thoughts with The Utica Phoenix/Phoenix Media.
