Summary

The Brand Designer is accountable for elevating public perception of the United Wheels Inc. corporate identity and portfolio of brands to create appeal and a lasting, positive impression among local and international audiences, in order to contribute towards improving company and brand equity, product sales, and market share. The person in this role will act as the 'brand steward' to maintain brand integrity and cohesive visual identity for sales and marketing campaigns and communications across portfolio of products and services. They will develop good understanding of our local audience and customers and have strong creative, analytical and organizational skills, including the ability to understand customer and market insights and analyze data, to ideate and evolve brand campaigns.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIncrease awareness of all UWI Inc. brands to be best in class through creative idea generation for campaigns and establishing strong brand identity across UWI Inc.’s portfolio of brands, products and services.Direct and develop overall design concepts for campaigns and activations (eg events, advertising, promotions, CSR, etc), aligning expectations on quality and delivery with senior stakeholders, working with designer to execute and produce assets.Direct and develop brand strategy and visual identity, including the establishment of style guides, brand guidelines, brand vision and value proposition for short and long term projects.Brand guardianship of UWI Inc. visual identity to build credibility across our corporate and project brands, ensuring companywide comprehension and execution of brand application.Creative direction and styling of digital (incl websites, videography and photography), advertising, physical spaces, interiors, print and broadcast collaterals, working together with digital comms and marketing & events teams to execute ideas.Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies on creative direction, brand consistency, and campaign development to drive brand cohesion and innovation of advertising and marketing efforts.Collaborate with Product Design and Packaging teams during the development process to ensure brand compliancy and overall organizational vision.Act as primary Project Manager for all brand design projects and initiatives.Assist with product development and new product launches as well as identifying new business opportunities and partnerships.Liaise with legal and/or relevant stakeholders to ensure designs and messages meet company and regulatory guidelines.Manage production budgets for advertising and promotional items.Carry out brand and market research to keep up to date with customer trends and predict future trends.Other duties may be assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNo current supervisory responsibilities

Education and/or Experience5+ years of experience in brand and/or design roles.Strong portfolio of previous work, preferably working with well established brands.Strong design skills showcased across a variety of platforms, channels and media.Bachelor’s Degree in brand, design and/or marketing, or Associates Degree and equivalent experience.Creation of brand guidelines and visual identity.Line management or supervisory experience.Experience in the BMX/mountain/retail bike industry is a definite plus.This position may require approximately 3% of domestic travel.A Passion for cycling and the outdoors!Excellent understanding of visual aesthetic and design principles.Mastery of design software eg. Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.Excellent presentation skills including planning and creation.Clear understanding of brands and the marketing mix.Excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing.Able to manage competing projects on aggressive timelines, while under pressure.Good instinct about future trends and concepts that would appeal to customers.Be a team leader, able to inspire others.Good analytical and listening skills, able to respond to feedback and customer research.Able to work well with a wide range of people from different parts of the business.Energetic, enthusiastic and passionate about their projects and creating positive change.Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products eg Outlook, Word, Excel.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.Mathematical SkillsAbility to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning AbilityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
