Format can be a letter of recommendation, contact information, or an audio recording of elder reference.Position SummaryThis position will research, organize, and produce written content that elevates the interconnections of NM and Community Affiliate-related campaign priorities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of diverse forms of storytelling with attention to campaign intersectionality, especially LGBTQ2S+, Indigenous identities, and justice for Mother Earth. Experience in grassroots organizing, journalism, or related disciplines is essential.Essential Job Functions

Research and develop narratives that reflect the intersectional work of Native Movement.Track, synthesize, and report on the progress of key narratives for NM programs and campaigns.Develop and write impactful feature stories to illuminate the work of NM and community affiliates.Collaborate with NM Teams to elevate Alaskan Native voices and grassroots leadership on social media, email newsletter, print materials, grant reports, and in local/national news media outlets.Work with the NM teams to draft website copy, outreach materials, public statements, letters of support, op-ed pieces, media advisories, press releases, and other supporting materials as needed.Participate in weekly team and campaign meetings, as well as support Native Movement public events where help is needed.Maintain regular and positive communication with staff, community members, collaborators, vendors, and contractors as needed.Non-Essential Job Functions

Some travel to other Alaska locations as needed.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.Additional Job InformationThis position requires regular attendance in accordance with the established schedule. Some work on weekends or outside of regular hours may be required. Employees must possess abilities to adhere to safety rules, refrain from violence, and work in cooperation across organizational programs.Work Environment and Demands of the RoleThis position will work primarily on-site in either the Fairbanks or Anchorage office. Remote work is possible with reliable internet and pre-approval. The office environment is generally calm, with some days of higher activity. The physical demands include occasional movement throughout office and event spaces, commuting, ascending stairs, and exchanging information effectively.LocationThis position is preferred to be in Alaska, but remote or hybrid work is a possibility. Professional Writing Experience and/or ability to demonstrate an excellent writing practice.3 or more Writing Examples required, preferably in multiple styles.Must have a real and authentic understanding of some amount of Alaska Native ways of life.Must have experience working with Alaska Native and/or Indigenous communities.Ability to assess impact with a strong lens of justice, equity, and social/community responsibility.Collaborative writing experience or ability to work with a team in developing writing pieces together.Demonstrated knowledge and relevant experience in grassroots community organizing.Strong time management skills, including meeting goals and deadlines while working independently.Values-based qualifications
