General Summary:The Marketing Event Specialist, Staff plays a lead support role in the planning, development, and execution of industry trade shows, third party and company-hosted conference and hospitality activations. This person will be expected to lead smaller events and support the managers as needed for additional planning on larger more complex projects in a team environment both in pre-planning and onsite. Responsible for implementation and sometimes management of event marketing elements of the overall plan in one or more of the following areas: agency or vendor selection and management, hotel acquisition and management, company compliance policies, support for event SW tools and automation, design and development of branded materials and collateral, adhering to brand and other company guidelines, and other event-related and hospitality logistics. Additional responsibilities include researching events, project management, schedule and/or budget management, broader marketing team collaboration and possibly working cross-functionally (including international offices).Job ResponsibilitiesServes as primary contact on key projects and is instrumental in understanding stakeholders’ visions for events that achieve goals & objectivesLeverages expertise and demonstrates ability to meet and exceed stakeholders’ expectationsProvides regular communication with project teams, both internal and external, and participates in and offers solutions during cross-functional meetingsCollaborates with internal clients to develop scope, vision, budgets, product experiences, event plans, and execution of eventsResearches, negotiates, and contracts venues for eventsCreates menus and coordinates details of food and beverageSources, negotiates, and manages vendors for staffing, décor, lighting, entertainment, AV, security, promotional items, signage, and transportationResponsible for all event financial tracking including budget development, iProc creation and follow-through, POs, invoicing, reporting, and project budget reconciliationDevelops creative solutions and plans to implement best practices related to event management techniques while remaining consistent with organizational objectivesApplies event experience and industry knowledge to provide guidance on methodology to be used for complex requests, challenges, and situations with stakeholders, partners, and vendorsMinimum Qualifications• Bachelors degree and 3+ years of Communications, Marketing, Event Planning or related work experience.ORAssociates degree or equivalent degree and 6+ years of Communications, Marketing, Event Planning or related work experience.ORHigh school Diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of Communications, Marketing, Event Planning or related work experience.

*Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Large-scale global events and tradeshow coordinationBasic understanding of marketing principles and able to define objectives and strategiesStrong strategic, planning and project maangement skillsExcellent written and verbal communication and creative problem-solving skillsStrong leadership skillsExperience managing agencies and vendorsAble to performs tasks without noticeable direction and assignments are self-initiatedExcellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style, ensuring all team members are contributing to discussionsStrong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyExercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies, selecting best practice methods and techniques for obtaining solutionsFrequently interacts with employees, customers, agencies, and senior managementProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Airtable, and CventQualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
